Fetterman urges Trump to strike Iran's nuclear facilities with massive bombers

In a stunning break from his party’s usual stance, Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has called for aggressive U.S. action against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

According to the Daily Mail, Fetterman appeared on Fox News Tuesday where he urged Trump to deploy B-2 stealth bombers equipped to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities. This hawkish position places him at odds with many fellow Democrats who have advocated for restraint.

Fetterman didn’t mince words, accusing Iran of sheltering terrorists who target Israel. He pressed for the U.S. to stand firmly with its key Middle Eastern ally. His solution? Use B-2 stealth bombers armed with 30,000-pound bunker busters to obliterate Iran’s nuclear sites.

Fetterman’s Hardline Stance on Iran

“Taking out Iran at this point is necessary if you ever have a chance to have any real peace in the Middle East,” Fetterman declared. Well, that’s a refreshing dose of clarity in a world where too many tiptoe around the hard truths about rogue regimes.

He doubled down, suggesting the U.S. keep dropping those massive bombs until Iran’s nuclear threat is confirmed neutralized. “I’d just keep dropping them until you can actually confirm what exactly happened to them,” he added. Now, that’s the kind of resolve you don’t often hear from Capitol Hill these days.

Fetterman also made it crystal clear that Iran must “never” be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon. It’s a rare moment of backbone from a Democrat, especially when progressive voices often seem more concerned with appeasement than security.

Democratic Divide Over Middle East Policy

Interestingly, Fetterman stands alone among his party on this issue, as Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer pointed out. “All your Democratic colleagues aren’t on board with you,” Hemmer noted. And isn’t that the understatement of the year?

Contrast Fetterman’s hawkish tone with Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who took to social media to slam Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Sanders claimed Netanyahu ignited the conflict by attacking Iran and sabotaging nuclear talks with the assassination of Iran’s lead negotiator, Ali Shamkhani. While Sanders demands the U.S. avoid any involvement, one wonders if ignoring Iran’s aggression is really the path to peace.

Fetterman, meanwhile, has consistently been one of Israel’s loudest defenders in Congress, especially in the ongoing war with Hamas. This has ruffled feathers among Democrats who lean toward the Palestinian cause, but Fetterman seems unbothered by the internal party friction.

Trump and Netanyahu Weigh In

Adding to the geopolitical tension, President Donald Trump was questioned by reporters ahead of the G7 Summit in Alberta, Canada, about his coordination with Netanyahu. “We’ve always supported Israel,” Trump affirmed, later noting that Israel is “doing very well right now.” That’s classic Trump—straightforward, unapologetic, and aligned with strength over endless diplomacy.

Netanyahu himself brought a chilling revelation to Fox News, claiming Israeli intelligence links Iran to assassination attempts on Trump in 2024. “Through proxies, yes. Through their intel, yes,” Netanyahu told host Bret Baier, emphasizing Iran’s view of Trump as “enemy number one.”

While it’s unclear if Netanyahu meant post-election plots foiled by the FBI or earlier incidents like those in Butler, Pennsylvania, and West Palm Beach, Florida, the accusation is grave. Trump, after all, has long been a target of Tehran’s ire since the elimination of Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani. This only underscores why Fetterman’s call for decisive action might not be as outlandish as his critics claim.

Trump’s Own Warnings to Iran

Trump hasn’t been shy about his stance on Iran either, having requested military aircraft and enhanced Secret Service protection during his campaign due to Iranian threats. In September 2024, he vowed to blow Iran “to smithereens” if he returned to power and Tehran made another move against him. That’s not just tough talk—it’s a promise of accountability.

Fetterman’s alignment with such a muscular foreign policy is a curious twist for a Democrat, but it reflects a growing frustration with Iran’s unchecked provocations. His insistence on partnering with Israel to dismantle Iran’s nuclear capabilities might be controversial, but it’s hard to argue against preventing a nuclear-armed adversary in such a volatile region.

Ultimately, this saga reveals a deep rift not just within the Democratic Party, but in how America approaches the Middle East. While Sanders and others push for restraint, Fetterman’s call to arms—backed by Trump’s own rhetoric and Netanyahu’s dire warnings—suggests a different path. Perhaps it’s time to stop debating and start acting before Iran’s threats become even deadlier realities.
