Most people would probably agree that in terms of an organized terrorist attack on United States soil, most felt confident during Trump's term that it would not happen.
We are no longer saying that in this country, and FBI Director Wray just confirmed our worst fears while discussing Section 702 with the House Appropriations Committee this week.
Talking Points…
- Rising concerns of terrorism
- Director Wray confirms threats
- Analysis
We have seen some rather bold moves since Joe Biden has been in office, and not all by terrorists. When you look at the threats to South Korea, Taiwan, and Ukraine since Biden has been in office, most would again agree that these things would not have happened if Donald Trump, or anyone with a backbone, was in office right now.
The concerns for attacks here on U.S. soil have been growing for quite some time. In December, we were warned of possible attacks during the holiday season. When Director Wray was called before the Senate Judiciary Committee at the time, he confirmed those threats, stating:
"I've never seen a time where all the threats, or so many of the threats, are all elevated all at exactly the same time."
Most have probably seen the recent reports of terror-list suspects being apprehended at the border, so the natural concern is about the ones that got through. The consensus is that for every one you catch, multiple have probably been snuck over the border in a different area.
A recent report in The Hill noted that there have been 268 terror suspect arrests at the border since Joe Biden has been in office, with only 14 during the Donald Trump administration. If numbers hold true, there could be more than 2,000 terrorists in this country right now.
FBI Director Wray appeared before the House Appropriations Committee this week, confirming what most of us believed to be true. There are rising threats on U.S. soil for possible terror attacks, which have increased significantly since Hamas invaded Israel on October 7. The success of that attack has emboldened many terrorist organizations.
On the rising threats, Director Wray stated:
"Since then, we've seen a rogues' gallery of foreign terrorist organizations call for attacks against Americans and our allies. Given those calls for action, our most immediate concern has been that individuals or small groups will draw twisted inspiration from the events in the Middle East to carry out attacks here at home.
"But now, increasingly concerning, is the potential for a coordinated attack here in the homeland, akin to the ISIS-K attack we saw at the Russia Concert Hall a couple of weeks ago."
Director Wray was on the Hill speaking of the importance of Section 702 for FISA. I reported on this yesterday, agreeing that the purpose of the legislation remains and the legislation is needed, but we definitely need reforms to ensure FISA is no longer abused as it was in the case of the Russian collusion investigation.
That aside, this makes it clear that America is far less safe under this administration than in past administrations. Since Biden's disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, the country has become a playground of sorts of terrorist organizations, and Biden is doing very little to stop that. Wray has more or less confirmed that now it is only a matter of time before we see an organized terror attack in this country again, and when that blood spills, it will be directly on Biden's hands for allowing Mayorkas to go rogue at the border.
