Ohio Representative Max Miller, a former Trump aide, is facing accusations of drug use from his wife, Emily Moreno, amid their ongoing divorce proceedings.
According to Daily Mail, the couple's separation has taken a contentious turn, with Moreno making serious allegations against her husband.
Miller, 35, filed for divorce from Moreno, 30, just two years after their lavish wedding at Donald Trump's Bedminster golf club. The split comes only ten months after the birth of their daughter, Ruth, highlighting the rapid deterioration of their relationship.
Court filings reveal that Moreno left their shared home in July, taking their daughter and personal belongings with her. She reportedly moved into a house secretly purchased by her father, claiming that Miller was regularly using drugs and speaking poorly of her family.
Miller has vehemently denied these accusations, stating that he took a drug test, which came back negative. Despite this, he alleges that his wife continues to restrict his access to their daughter, only allowing supervised visits.
The congressman's legal team has branded Moreno's claims about his inability to keep their child safe as "absolutely absurd," pointing out that she had previously left Ruth in his care during a trip to Milwaukee.
The divorce proceedings have also brought to light financial disagreements between the couple. Miller claims that when he refused to pay for Moreno's car insurance on a $140,000 Mercedes purchased from one of her father's dealerships, she threatened to limit his access to their child.
According to Miller's attorneys, Moreno demanded that he continue paying homeowner association fees for their Washington, D.C. condo as part of her conditions for allowing him to see their daughter.
Miller has expressed frustration with what he perceives as stonewalling tactics from his wife and her legal team despite his efforts to disprove her allegations.
Max Miller became a U.S. Representative for Ohio's 7th congressional district in 2023, largely due to support from former President Donald Trump. His political career, however, has not been without controversy.
In 2021, Miller faced abuse allegations from his ex-girlfriend, former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham. He denied these claims and filed a defamation lawsuit, which was later voluntarily dismissed. Emily Moreno, daughter of Republican U.S. Senate nominee Bernie Moreno, has her own political connections. Her father, a former Democratic donor turned Trump supporter, is currently running for Senate in Ohio.
Bernie Moreno's campaign has responded to the divorce situation, stating:
Bernie is very sad their marriage worked out as it did, but it's a private family matter and he will not be making any further comments.
The divorce proceedings between Max Miller and Emily Moreno have exposed deeply personal issues within a politically connected couple. As the legal battle unfolds, it raises questions about the impact on Miller's political career and the well-being of their young daughter. The allegations of drug use, financial disputes, and custody issues paint a complex picture of a marriage that has rapidly disintegrated in the public eye. As both parties continue to navigate this difficult situation, the outcome of their divorce and its potential ramifications for their respective political affiliations remain to be seen.
