A massive drug trafficking operation in Lubbock, Texas comes to an end as federal agents reveal details of a two-year investigation.
According to Yahoo News, Acting U.S. Attorney Chad E. Meacham announced that 20 individuals with suspected ties to Mexican cartels have been arrested for trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The operation, which began in March 2023, resulted in the seizure of over 43 kilograms of methamphetamine, 285.4 grams of fentanyl pills, 335.5 grams of cocaine, and 2,296.7 grams of marijuana. Law enforcement officials also confiscated six firearms during the raids. The amount of fentanyl seized could have potentially produced 21,662 lethal doses.
Fifteen suspects made their initial appearances before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Lubbock. Among them were Vida Tamor Overstreet, 49, and Patrick Wayne Frazier, 38, who face charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances. Santiago Daniel Baltazar, 26, specifically dealt with fentanyl distribution, while David Wayne Frazier Jr., 44, was charged with possession of 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
The investigation revealed a complex network of drug distributors operating throughout the Lubbock area. Several defendants, including Santos Moncada, 30, and Jessie Franco, 41, face charges related to the distribution of significant quantities of methamphetamine exceeding 50 grams.
