Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan reported sightings of mysterious drone-like objects over multiple East Coast locations.
According to the New York Post, the recent aerial sightings have initiated widespread responses from both federal and local authorities, but no threats to public safety or national security have been established.
In a concerning event last week, ex-governor Larry Hogan described observing "large drones" circling above his residence in Davidsonville, Maryland, located about 25 miles from Washington, DC. These unidentified flying objects loomed over his home for around 45 minutes.
Larry Hogan voiced his dissatisfaction with the lack of information from notable agencies. He stated that federal bodies informed him that they do not know the nature, origin, or controller of these drones.
Unusual, fast-moving circular lights were reported above Oregon by at least four airline pilots on December 7, and air traffic control communications also recorded the sightings. These incidents have added to the growing intrigue and concern among public and officials alike.
New Jersey Senator Andy Kim also experienced this phenomenon firsthand with local law enforcement officials. Specifically, during his observation, they noticed lights performing maneuvers that conventional aircraft are not capable of executing.
Meanwhile, White House national security council spokesperson John Kirby disclosed that state and local law enforcement have not provided corroborative visual confirmation of these objects. Furthermore, Kirby mentioned that upon review, many aerial sightings could be legally operating manned aircraft.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul confirmed similar unidentified drone sightings near New York City and reassured the public of their safety, citing ongoing investigations with FBI and DHS cooperation.
Hochul emphasized the absence of any direct threat associated with these sightings but remained open about the investigations’ status.
Larry Hogan criticized the insufficient responses from high authority, declaring:
We are being told that neither the White House, the military, the FBI, or Homeland Security have any idea what these objects are, where they came from, or who has launched or is controlling them — and that they pose no threat. That response is entirely unacceptable. I join with the growing bipartisan chorus of leaders demanding that the federal government immediately address this issue. The American people deserve answers and action now.
Senator Kim, sharing his experiences, painted a vivid scene of the potential capabilities of these drones:
Last night I went out with local police to spot drone flying over New Jersey, here's what I saw. We drove to Round Valley Reservoir and the officer pointed to lights moving low over the tree line. Sometimes they were solid white light, others flashed of red and green. We saw a few that looked like they were moving in small clusters of 2-4. We clearly saw several that would move horizontally and then immediately switch back in the opposite direction in maneuvers that plane can’t do.
The persistent mystery of these drone sightings continues to disturb and perplex the public and leaders alike. With federal agencies and local law enforcement both coming up empty-handed in their initial assessments, the call for concrete answers grows louder.
Despite the widespread concern and fascination these mysterious drones have provoked, authorities maintain there is no current threat to public safety. Federal and local agencies are continuing their thorough investigations into these unexplained aerial phenomena as the situation remains fluid.
