On Wednesday, Donald Trump took a crushing blow when Judge Chutkan released the Special Counsel report from Jack Smith.

Emhoff Allegations Rock Harris Presidential Campaign

On Wednesday, the political world got hit with several bombs, one being abuse allegations against Doug Emhoff, the husband of Kamala Harris. The allegations date back to 2012, which is two years before Harris and Emhoff were married. According to the report, Emhoff has been accused of hitting a woman in the face at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in France. The report stated that Emhoff allegedly hit her so hard that she spun around.

The incident allegedly took place in the early morning hours after a long night out and a lot of drinking. The alleged victim, who is referred to as “Jane” in the filing, and Emhoff were in a taxi line, with the woman offering the valet money to skip the long line for taxi service. Her friend stated:

“[Jane] told me she put her hand on [the valet’s] shoulder. Doug apparently thought she was flirting, and came over and slapped her in the face.”

The friend said that Jane slapped Emhoff back and broke up with him that night. The friend said that Jane had called her later that night to tell her what had happened. She stated:

“It was hard to hear her because she was sobbing. She told me she was with a guy and he hit her.”

Several other friends backed up the story, telling, more or less, the same version of the story. One friend stated that Emhoff forced his way into the taxi with the woman and was unapologetic about hitting her the next day. The report first surfaced on Daily Mail, which was supplied with travel documentation and pictures of Emhoff and the woman together.

Harris’ Words Come Back to Haunt Her

Along with the allegations of domestic abuse, the report went on to say that Emhoff confessed to the woman that he had paid his nanny $80,000 and had her sign an NDA. This is the woman who Emhoff had his alleged affair with when he was married to his first wife. This presents a bit of a challenge for Harris, considering some of her past statements on sexual abuse and domestic violence, both of which are not being hung on Emhoff. For instance, during Justice Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings, Harris had posted:

“Wore black today in support of all survivors of sexual assault or abuse. We won’t let them be silenced or ignored. #BelieveSurvivors.”

That was in support of accuser Christine Blasey Ford, who alleged that Kavanaugh had forced himself on her at a high school party. Harris has made many more statements along these lines as well. For instance, in May 2017, she posted:

“We need to take crimes against women and children more seriously — crimes like human trafficking, domestic violence, and child abuse.”

Analysis

Democrats have set the bar that all women accusers must be believed until proven wrong, and now that is coming back to haunt them. The Democrat Party has held up Emhoff as the new example of masculinity, yet he has already admitted to his affair, and now these abuse allegations. When you combine that with Harris’ own words on the subject, it is a devasting blow that could completely derail Harris’ campaign. And, of course, her campaign has not yet commented on the report.
