Former CNN host Don Lemon has stirred controversy with his latest comments about MAGA supporters.
He forcefully critiqued MAGA followers, labeling them uninformed during his show on YouTube, Fox News reported.
In the video posted to his channel, the "Don Lemon Show," Lemon did not hold back. He described MAGA followers in harsh terms, asserting they were misled.
Lemon explicitly criticized the intelligence of President-elect Donald Trump’s supporters and accused them of participating in cult-like behavior. “You're so f---ing stupid and you deserve it. You f---ing deserve it because you're so dumb,” he said in his tirade.
“You’ve been co-opted because you're in a f---ing cult and you don't even realize it because you have stupid MAGA brain and you don't get it,” Lemon stated as well in a video that quickly gained attention online.
Lemon's career has been tumultuous of late. He was moved from a primetime slot at CNN to a morning show before his eventual departure in April 2023. His exit from CNN was due to multiple factors, including decreased appeal among female viewers and conservative groups.
Following his departure, Lemon took to YouTube to continue sharing his perspectives. His criticisms extended beyond just Trump's followers to the dynamics within MAGA’s political leadership.
During his outburst, Lemon commented on the internal disagreements among MAGA supporters concerning H-1B visas, influenced by differing views from figures like Elon Musk and Steve Bannon. This highlighted a significant divide within Trump’s base.
Adding to Lemon's critique, he discussed the backlash following the appointment of Sriram Krishnan as a senior adviser on artificial intelligence to President-elect Trump, which resulted in an anti-Indian sentiment on social media.
Drawing broader cultural connections, Lemon critiqued the awarding by Time Magazine of Person of the Year to Trump. He questioned their choice, suggesting that there were better representatives of democratic values. “If they wanted to make someone Person of the Year, I don’t know, they could’ve done it with any person. They could have done it to someone who actually stood for democracy, who stands for democracy in the country,” said Lemon, expressing his disapproval.
"Oh no, immigration," Lemon sarcastically remarked in his video, mocking conservative fears about immigration policies. "We can't do the immigration, because, you know, the immigration it triggers some people. You know what they're saying about the anti-immigration stuff, right?" he continued, highlighting the controversial nature of the immigration debate among Trump supporters.
Despite the potentially career-damaging nature of his earlier controversies, Lemon has embraced his new platform to continue expressing his opinions without the constraints of cable news. This episode of the "Don Lemon Show" underscores his willingness to speak bluntly on political and social issues.
His forceful speech reflects ongoing polarizations in U.S. politics and the challenges faced by media figures in keeping public dialogues open and respectful. This story of Don Lemon's outspoken critique follows his trajectory from CNN anchor to a vocal critic on his own channel. He remains a significant, if controversial, voice in American media, continuing to influence public discussions about politics and society.
