Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has openly supported this initiative. While attending a meeting in Europe, he remarked on the importance of the project and his hope for Musk's future involvement. "We welcome DOGE to the Pentagon, and I hope to welcome Elon to the Pentagon very soon," Hegseth said, displaying a cooperative stance towards the scrutiny effort.
Hegseth's approval is critical as he leads the Department with the highest budget in the Federal Government, exceeding $800 billion annually. Despite his current presence at the Munich Security Conference, he has affirmed his commitment to collaborate fully with DOGE.
