Authorities in Washington, D.C., launched a significant law enforcement operation as part of President Donald Trump’s initiative to address crime in the nation’s capital.
According to The Daily Caller, in one night, federal and local authorities collaborated to take 29 illegal immigrants into custody as they intensified efforts to tackle crime in the area.
Hundreds of officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and members of the National Guard carried out the broader operation. On Wednesday night alone, they made 45 arrests, pursuing the initiative’s primary objective of addressing the growing crime concern highlighted by a recent poll.
Authorities reported that many of those captured had outstanding orders for removal. The operation did not solely focus on immigration status but also targeted severe offenses including assault on law enforcement officials, possession of child sex abuse material, and drug trafficking.
