CNN Admits Trump Acquittal Worst Possible Outcome for Democrats

 May 28, 2024

This week, the Trump hush-money case is expected to be turned over to the jury.

There is a very good chance of acquittal for Trump, which has Democrats and the media talking damage control.

Talking Points…
- Case going to the jury
- Dems worst-case scenario
- Analysis

Case Ready to Go to the Jury

As you read this, closing arguments for the Trump hush-money case have likely concluded. Once those arguments are done, the jury will receive its instructions and begin deliberation. Even though the case is in New York, more than a few people believe Bragg failed to make his case and that Trump could get a walk or, at the very least, a hung jury.

Remember, there are several attorneys on this jury, which could actually help Trump. Bragg had a difficult task in explaining how he came about these federal charges, and many legal experts believe he failed on this front. Point being, an attorney could convince the fence sitters that they need to come down on the side of acquittal, which would be a complete and total disaster for Democrats and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.

Worst-case Scenario or Democrats

CNN political correspondent Sara Murray tried to brace Democrats that their nightmare could come true when the jury came back with its verdict. Murray warned:

"I think that it's very likely this is the only trial that we are going to get before Election Day. And this case is not a slam dunk, which means that Donald Trump may very well not be convicted.

“Acquitted is the worst-case scenario for Democrats.”

Marray later added:

"Donald Trump gets to go out there and say, 'Joe Biden's prosecutors,' which, again, not true, 'came after me, his Department of Justice came after me, and they still didn't convict me. I'm still innocent.’

"I also think you could end up somewhere in this sort of muddy middle where you end up with a hung jury, a jury that cannot reach a verdict. And then this truly does just get kicked to the voters to decide."

As we would expect, George Conway was blowing up on TV saying that he does not believe Trump can get an acquittal, stating:

"I don’t think they can get an acquittal. I don’t think they’re going to get 12 votes unanimously to acquit him.

"I think their best shot, and that’s what they’re going to do, is hope that there’s just some person on the jury who refuses to convict."

Analysis

I hate to break it to Conway, but if this jury is hung, I think it is doubtful that Bragg will move for a new trial. So, for Trump’s purposes, a hung jury is just as good as an acquittal.

The Democrats are hanging everything on this case, with Joe Biden recently announcing that he will speak on the case after the jury returns its verdict. This was one of four cases that were supposed to remove Trump after he secured the nomination, but with the delays in the other cases, this now appears to be the Democrats’ only hope of derailing Donald Trump. Hung or acquittal, this will be a massive win for Trump.
