Actor Chad Lowe and his wife Kim Painter say they are deeply heartbroken after the death of their 13-year-old daughter Fiona, and they are asking for prayers and privacy.
National Desk reported that Chad Lowe, Kim Painter, and their family confirmed Fiona’s death in a statement and shared no cause or other circumstances around her passing.
Fiona was 13. She is also survived by her sisters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
In their statement, the family described a bright, creative girl who loved to dance and was the center of their home.
The family said:
"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona, a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. Chad Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, has long worked in Hollywood as an actor and director. Offscreen, he has presented himself first as a father of three girls.
The family’s grief follows another hard blow. In early 2025, they lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire.
Fiona’s death comes less than two years after that disaster.
After the fire, Chad posted on Instagram about taking the girls back to see what remained. “Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” he wrote.
He praised how they handled the wreckage. “The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience,” the post continued. “Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
Last year he marked Fiona’s 13th birthday the same way many parents do, in public, with pride. “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he wrote. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
That birthday note now reads like a farewell the family never meant to write. The same child they called the light of their lives is the one they are burying.
The Lowes have not released the date or place of Fiona’s death. They have not described what happened. They asked for prayer and for room to mourn.
