Brooke Rollins has been appointed the next Secretary of Agriculture by President-elect Trump.
The official announcement came this Saturday, putting an end to the speculation involving former Senator Kelly Loeffler, Fox News reported.
Brooke Rollins, originally from Glen Rose, Texas, brings a considerable background in agriculture to the table. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agriculture Development and a J.D. with honors from Texas A&M University.
Brooke Rollins grew up actively involved in family farming, and her commitment to agriculture has spanned her entire life, including leadership roles in the Future Farmers of America and 4H.
This agricultural expertise extended into her personal life where she has been a guiding force behind her children's involvement in show cattle.
President-elect Trump acknowledged Brooke Rollins' comprehensive background, which blends practical agricultural experience with her service in high-level positions in nonprofit and government sectors at both the state and national level. This includes her time as the director of the Office of American Innovation and acting director of the Domestic Policy Council during Trump’s first administration. Following her White House tenure, Rollins co-founded the America First Policy Institute think tank.
The Secretary of Agriculture oversees a vast agency, staffing approximately 100,000 personnel across the U.S. and managing a budget that as of last year stood at $437.2 billion. The agency is pivotal in fostering farm and nutrition programs, as well as overseeing forestry, food safety, rural development, and agricultural research.
The appointment followed a meeting President-elect Trump had with former Senator Kelly Loeffler at Mar-a-Lago this past Friday, one day before the announcement was made.
