On Saturday, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) held a big rally to try to boost his campaign, which has suddenly become a street brawl for Bowman.
Bowman appeared to embrace that precise narrative, with a rally that would have brought the media down on him if he was a Republican.
Talking Points…
- Bowman in unexpected tight primary race
- The Bowman rally
- Analysis
Bowman has been a controversial figure in Congress virtually from the time he first took his seat. He immediately embraced AOC’s Squad, but that was not where it ended. Bowman has regularly confronted Republican members of Congress in a thug-like fashion, getting in their faces and attempting to use his brawn as intimidation.
Then, of course, there was the fire alarm incident, where Bowman clearly and purposefully pulled a fire alarm to interrupt a session of Congress. He was later slapped on the wrist and not charged with a crime, which was a complete and utter joke after having seen the footage. Bowman then promoted bogus narratives on the Israel-Hamas war, openly touting the Israel narrative as propaganda, questioning whether Hamas beat and raped women during the horrific events of October 7.
New York holds its primary race on Tuesday, and Bowman surely never thought he would be in this tight of a race. Also, his opponent, George Latimer, is getting support from some of the biggest names in the party, including Hillary Clinton. On Bowman’s tight race, one Democrat strategist stated:
“He’s super vulnerable. He’s not necessarily the most liked internally.
“Folks think that he’s not going to win.”
Bowman was already struggling during this primary race, but his comments about Israel have hurt his chances in this election. Bowman has also started to attack other Democrats who do not share his opinions on Israel, which is also creating problems. For example, Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.), who stated:
“I have a general rule of not weighing in against a Congressional Democrat who has not weighed in against me.
“But Bowman’s gratuitous attack on my character might cause me to rethink that rule. Stay tuned.”
Bowman’s rally, among others, was attended by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who has aligned himself with the Squad. AOC’s appearance was comical, as she seemed a bit over the edge, and videos were blowing up all over the place, wondering if she had truly lost her mind.
What I want to concentrate on, however, is Bowman’s time with the microphone in hand. He started the rally off by rolling up his sleeves and shouting vulgarities from the stage, stating:
“What am I supposed to do? You’re coming after me, you’re coming after my family, you’re coming after my children. I’m not supposed to fight back? I’m not supposed to fight back?
“We (are) gonna show them who the f**k we are! We (are) gonna show them who the f**k we are!”
His speech is in the video below, so take the 10 minutes to watch it when you have time. But then think about how the media would have reacted if similar words came out of the mouth of a Republican on the campaign trail…
The funny thing about all of this is the constant violent rhetoric that these Democrats use to get these crows riled up that would be shredded if conservatives were using it. Are you ready to “fight,” we are going to “show them who the f**k we are,” etc.…, all phrases meant to get people worked up and upset with the other side. They are quite unhinged, clearly hoping for violence, yet the media continues to give them a free pass. If Trump wins this election, watch how they ramp it up even more, then try to create outrage when conservatives fight back.
