Blinken Physically Reacts to Biden Calling President Xi a Dictator

 November 17, 2023

This week, Joe Biden met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

After the meeting, Joe Biden took questions, one of them being about his past comments calling Xi a “dictator.”

Biden did it again, with a noticeable reaction from Secretary of State Blinken that was caught on camera.

Talking Points…

  • Joe Biden’s comments
  • Blinken reaction
  • Analysis

Joe Biden’s Comments Regarding President Xi

When Biden called Xi a dictator before, there was significant pushback in the Chinese media for him having used the term.

So, the question by the media this time around was fairly predictable. A member of the media asked Biden directly if he would still be referring to Xi as a dictator.

Biden responded:

“Well look, he is [a dictator].

“I mean, he’s a dictator in the sense that he is a guy that runs a country that is a communist country and a form of government totally different than ours.”

Secretary of State Blinken Responds

Blinken was clearly not happy when Biden made his response, and unfortunately, at least for Blinken, someone had a camera pointed right at him when it happened.

Just watch the body language of Blinken as Biden is making this statement…

That is clearly a man uncomfortable with the words that just came out of his boss’ mouth.

Analysis

Joe Biden is in a no-win situation there. If he calls Xi a dictator, the Chinese media crushes him. If he doesn’t call him a dictator, the U.S. media crushes him.

Biden made the smart play here, but the reaction by Blinken is pretty disgusting from the average Joe’s perspective on this.

We have a Secretary of State who is visibly upset that the sitting president called a dictator a dictator.

It just goes to show the weakness of this administration and how its members, up and down the food chain, cower to foreign governments.

And believe me, I understand diplomacy, but you cannot call a bottle of white vinegar a bottle of Dom Perignon for the sake of diplomacy. Part of being a good diplomat is publicly and privately recognizing who your adversaries are.

Xi is not a good person, regardless of how they rolled out the red carpet for him and lined the streets of San Francisco with Chinese flags (which was also quite disturbing, to be quite frank.)

The human rights violations by the Chinese government are well documented, as are the iron fist methods of ruling that Xi has employed during his time in office.

Perhaps if we were not so reliant on the Chinese in terms of our supply chain, Blinken would not have to cringe when Biden used an accurate word to describe Xi.

This, in my opinion, is abhorrent behavior on the part of Blinken and if I were Biden, he would have been pulled into the office immediately and told to sit there, emotionless, when Biden is speaking and to never, and I mean NEVER give the enemy a tell like that.

Perhaps this is why Blinken tends to get steamrolled by Chinese officials at every summit with the Chinese that he has attended thus far.
