Congress is digging deep into what some are calling the biggest presidential cover-up in modern memory.
At the center is an aggressive House Oversight Committee investigation into former President Joe Biden’s mental capacity, questionable use of executive tools, and whether his team orchestrated a behind-the-scenes effort to shield that information from the public and lawmakers alike, Fox News reported.
Leading the charge is Committee Chair James Comer, who’s pulling no punches as he questions who was making executive decisions during Biden’s White House tenure, especially with the mysterious overuse of an autopen instead of direct presidential signatures.
Things started heating up when former Domestic Policy Council chief Neera Tanden testified that while she wielded hefty decision-making power, she barely interacted with President Biden himself. Her admission: she sent memos and got back signed papers—no clue who actually approved them.
As Comer noted, it’s hard to paint a picture of steady leadership when a top advisor admits her interactions with the commander-in-chief were “minimal.” That sounds more like a polite word for “nonexistent.”
From the flow of paperwork to the autopen signatures, the operation appeared on autopilot, with no clear indication that the President was informing or even aware of the decisions being rubber-stamped with his name.
The investigation intensified when it was revealed that Biden used an autopen to pardon more than 1,500 people during his final days, including controversial preemptive pardons for Hunter Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Gen. Mark Milley. Only one pardon was personally signed—his son Hunter’s.
The Justice Department is now reviewing those pardons, spearheaded by DOJ Pardon Attorney Ed Martin—a move that suggests even the executive branch isn’t fully convinced everything was above board.
Comer’s committee didn’t stop there. A subpoena landed on Anthony Bernal’s desk after he bailed on voluntary testimony. Bernal, a longtime aide to Jill Biden, was viewed as a key gatekeeper to the Bidens—someone who may know more than he’s letting on.
Bernal has refused to cooperate thus far, triggering Comer to accuse him of blocking legitimate oversight. Comer made clear that Bernal’s close access to both Bidens makes his insight “critical” to the investigation.
In his letter to Bernal, Comer emphasized the gravity of the moment, saying it may be time for Congress to reexamine laws under the Twenty-Fifth Amendment. In plain speak: was Joe Biden fit to serve, and if not, who knew—and who kept it a secret?
Meanwhile, the Senate Judiciary Committee hosted a hearing titled, “Unfit to Serve,” where legal experts and policy voices, including Sean Spicer, rang alarm bells. Theodore Wold flatly called the alleged concealment “a constitutional crisis.”
Republicans dominated the Senate hearing, with Democrats largely absent. Senator John Cornyn wasted no time pointing out that the no-shows were as loud as a confession. “Silence speaks volumes,” he said.
Sen. Dick Durbin briefly appeared before walking out and shifting attention toward immigration policy. Apparently, mass deportations were more urgent than the potential dismantling of constitutional checks and balances.
But this isn’t just a legal puzzle—it’s a medical saga too. In May of this year, Biden’s team admitted he was diagnosed with aggressive, late-stage prostate cancer. That followed an earlier removal of a cancerous skin lesion during his presidency.
The Oversight Committee is now trying to pinpoint exactly when Biden knew about his illness—and when the American people should have been told. The timeline matters for transparency, national security, and for honoring the trust voters place in their leaders.
Adding fuel to the fire, an audio leak from Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur sparked serious doubts about his mental clarity. Given his health revelations, many are asking whether he was capable of making sound decisions—or if others were acting in his name.
As Comer bluntly noted, how many people do you know who "misspoke" about having cancer before actually getting diagnosed? That’s not a slip of the tongue; that’s a red flag.
Biden defended his pardon of Hunter as a father acting from the heart. He argued he never interfered with the DOJ, even as his son faced gun and tax convictions. “They’ve tried to break Hunter...they’ve tried to break me,” he said.
The emotional defense may win sympathy, but it doesn’t answer the central question: who was really running the country, and why were Americans left in the dark?
With additional subpoenas going out to former senior staffers like Ron Klain, Anita Dunn, and Bruce Reed, the hits keep coming. This isn’t politics—it’s accountability. And the American people deserve no less.
