Biden Will Move Forward with Military Aid for Israel

 May 15, 2024

It would appear that Joe Biden got the message.

Reports started to break late Tuesday that the Biden administration was releasing the $1 billion in military aid that had been held up over Rafah.

Talking Points…
- Delaying aid
- Biden caves

Aid to Israel Delayed

The Biden administration had been pressuring Israel not to conduct an offensive operation in Rafah, which is where Israel now believes Hamas leadership is holed up. Biden has been facing serious pressure from the far left wing of the party that has been sympathetic to Hamas and Palestine, so the aid, which was mostly tank ammunition, tactics, and mortar rounds, was put on hold.

As we learned from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) during the Trump administration, holding up aid for any policy reason after Congress had approved it was illegal. These charges were eventually added to the Trump impeachment as quid pro quo, the same charges that Biden faces from the GOP.

This week, the GOP introduced articles of impeachment against Joe Biden specifically for having held up the aid. Additionally, major donors for the Democrat Party had expressed their outrage over Joe Biden holding up the aid for Israel. Biden had backed himself into a corner to pacify the extremists, hoping that Israel would blink first, but that never happened.

Biden Caves, Moves Forward with Aid Package

Late Tuesday, reports started to surface that the Biden administration had decided to lift the hold on the $1 billion in aid. However, there was no mention of when Israel would receive the weaponry.

The White House has since been on spin control, acting as though this was the plan all along and that Biden had never blinked in terms of supporting Israel, but that is simply not true, as we all know. White House national security communications advisor John Kirby addressed the media on the situation, saying that the Biden administration has been working with Israel to propose alternative methods of defeating Hamas that do not involve a major group operation in Rafah." He added:

"[Biden] will continue to ensure that Israel has all of the military means it needs to defend itself against all of its enemies, including Hamas.

"For [President Biden], this is very straightforward: He’s going to continue to provide Israel with all capabilities it needs, but he does not want certain categories of American weapons used in a particular type of operation in a particular place. And again, he has been clear and consistent with that.”

Had Biden not agreed to send the aid to Israel, he would have faced Republican legislation that would have drawn even more attention to the situation. The GOP said it was going to draft legislation forcing the aid to be forwarded, which would have easily passed the House and possibly made it through the Senate, as more than a few Democratic senators are upset with how Biden had handled this issue. This would have forced Biden to veto the legislation, cementing the impeachment.

Analysis

As I have stated before, Biden really painted himself into a corner with this ridiculous stance that he has been taking against Israel in its war against Hamas. They are playing the numbers the way the pro-Palestine members of Congress have been when, in fact, the casualty numbers in this war are on par with other major historical wars.

If Democrats want to remove Biden from the presidential race, this is their chance because the GOP is going to move forward on this, and they have a real case against Biden. I will not be so bold as to say this will pass in the Senate because I believe Schumer will kill it once it gets there, but since Trump was impeached for the very same thing, it would expose Democrat hypocrisy, which could seal this election for Trump.
