Biden Says McAuliffe ‘Real’ Governor of Virginia

By Jerry McConway, updated on January 24, 2024

Democrats have blasted Donald Trump and all of MAGA as election deniers, so this is not something we would think the current sitting Democrat president would be joking about on the campaign trail.

That, however, is precisely what Joe Biden did while campaigning in Virginia.

Did Biden Just Admit to Being an Election Denier?

Biden has finally started to campaign, hitting the dais in Virginia with Jill Biden and Kamala Harris, once again using the infamous "threat to democracy" and abortion as a rallying cry for Democrat voters.

Biden and Democrats keep talking about Donald Trump as a dictator and saying the GOP is a bunch of election deniers, yet when Biden started speaking to the crowd in Virginia, he stated:

"Hello, Virginia, and the real governor, Terry McAuliffe.

"My name is Joe Biden. I'm Jill Biden's husband and Kamala's running mate. Kidding aside. Thank you, Kamala, for your leadership protecting reproductive freedom and for so much more that you do."

For the record, Governor Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, beat Democrat Terry McAuliffe without a whisper of any election fraud, winning the state 50.6% to 48.6%.

Response to Biden Remarks

Those words had no sooner come out of Biden's mouth when conservatives went ballistic on social media.

For instance, conservative commentator Chris Barron responded:

"Sounds like Biden should be removed from the Virginia ballot.

"Subverting democracy, denying elections, basically insurrection."

Fox News contributor Guy Benson added:

"Biden is shuttled across the river to promote nine-month, taxpayer-funded elective abortion-on-demand — and tosses in some casual election denialism while he's at it."

The comments even got the attention of Governor Glenn Youngkin…

Analysis

The White House immediately tried to play this off as a "joke," but this is just more gaslighting nonsense from an administration that has been doing it right from the first day it took office. Not only that, Hillary Clinton and Democrats have continued to deny the election results from the 2016 election, but it seems to be okay with the media when Democrats do it.

This narrative is not going to go away anytime soon, either. Biden and Democrats are already laying the groundwork to use voter suppression as a narrative, and Trump is already neck-deep in making election-rigging claims to explain another loss to Biden in 2024. And round and round we go. This will be something that I think we can continue to expect to hear Democrats gaslight American voters on for many years to come.
