Biden DHS Secretary Admits Border Barriers Needed in Texas

 October 5, 2023

Going back to the 2020 campaign, Joe Biden has insisted that a border wall is useless and would not be constructed under his administration.

Biden is now playing both ends, telling the media that he does not believe a border wall works, while at the same time, Mayorkas is waiving more than two dozen laws to allow new construction in the Rio Grande Valley.

Talking Points…

  • Joe Biden on the campaign
  • Mayorkas reversal
  • My Two Cents…

Joe Biden on the Campaign Trail

When Joe Biden was on the campaign trail, he vowed that he would not continue Trump's border wall construction.

At that point, Trump had rebuilt a significant portion of the wall as well as adding about 50 miles of new wall.

The wall itself had been bought and paid for, with the supplies ready to go, all of which sat on the ground after Biden took office, and have now been sold off for pennies on the dollar.

Biden, during the campaign, stated:

"There will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration, No. 1.

"I'm going to make sure that we have border protection, but it's going to be based on making sure that we use high-tech capacity to deal with it. And at the ports of entry — that's where all the bad stuff is happening."

Mayorkas Reversal

Biden was asked this week if he thinks a border wall works, and he answered simply, "No."

Yet, DHS Secretary Mayorkas has finally conceded they cannot control immigration without putting up barriers to stop migrants from crossing over illegally.

Mayorkas is going to use powers granted to him to waive 26 laws, including the Clean Air Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act.

These are all hot-button topics for liberals, but Mayorkas is trashing them all to finally put something up in southern border areas where immigration is out of control.

Mayorkas stated:

"There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas pursuant to sections 102(a) and 102(b) of [the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996]."

The new wall sections will go up in Starr County, which was covered under 2019 legislation.

Donald Trump, of course, picked up on this story the moment it went live.

Trump responded:

"Biden sees our country is being invaded. What is he going to do about the 15 million people from prisons, from mental institutions, insane asylums, and terrorists that have already come into our country?"

My Two Cents…

I doubt anyone ever expected the border wall to completely stop illegal crossings. It is and has always meant to be more of a deterrent.

The wall is built to funnel migrants to areas that are better staffed to ensure immigration procedures are being followed.

The wall helps stop activity for human, drug, and weapons trafficking, but it will never eliminate it altogether.

What it does do is offer significant assistance to Border Patrol agents that allows them to concentrate manpower and control illegal immigration, something that is not being done right now.

Now, I don't know about you guys, but I am livid that Biden sold off supplies for pennies on the dollar, and now Mayorkas is finally conceding that we need to put barriers up along the southern border, so we are going to be paying for this twice.

This does not even take into account the venom they have been spewing at Governor Abbott for protecting the Texas border with various barrier types.

What we need now is for every soundbite ever uttered by Biden and Mayorkas to be put into an ad with the recent statement from Mayorkas about the need for barriers to be erected along our border to stop illegal immigration.

This should have been a bipartisan issue to control our border, but Biden and Democrats caved to extremists who never had the welfare and security of our country as a priority.
