Biden Approves Temporary Amnesty to 1.2 Million Foreign Nationals

 April 9, 2024

Most conservatives (and many liberals, for that matter) want to see immigration numbers going down, not up.

Yet, Joe Biden has just added to the already out-of-control problem in this country by extending temporary amnesty to nearly 1.2 million foreign nationals.

Talking Points…
- Immigration by the numbers

Immigration by the Numbers Since Biden Took Office

When Joe Biden was running for office, he was very open about his desire to double legal immigration in this country and stated that the United States could absorb an additional two million migrants immediately. He was never able to get legislation passed that would allow those numbers, but that never stopped him and Secretary Mayorkas from hitting his goals.

From the outside looking in, Biden approached immigration very much the same way he has approached student loan forgiveness. Since he was unable to do it through Congress, he would find loopholes that would enable him to hit his goals anyway.

To that point, as of February 2024, there have been an estimated 8.7 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide since Biden took office. At the southern border alone, there have been more than 7.2 million crossings. Those numbers are staggering and represent more than the population of about three dozen states. In addition, there are an estimated 1.8 million gotaways, which puts the overall number at well over 10 million illegals since this administration moved into the White House. Roughly half of those encounters have been released to the country’s interior.

Biden Grants Temporary Amnesty to Nearly 1.2 Million Foreign Nationals

As if the immigration problem in this country was already not bad enough, Biden has just added to the numbers.

The Pew Research Center reports that as of late March, almost 1.2 million foreign nationals were receiving or made eligible for temporary protected status (TPS). This status enables them to secure work permits, avoid deportation, and remain in the country safely.

Among the countries that Biden has added to the list of TPS recipients are Afghanistan, Burma, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ukraine, and Venezuela. One of the most significant recipients of TPS status is Venezuela, seeing an overall increase of TPS to the tune of about 750,000 since 2021. The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) also recently reported on these numbers, stating:

“The foreign-born share of the U.S. population has more than tripled since 1970, nearly doubled since 1990, and is up 40 percent just since 2000.

“Since President Biden took office in January 2021, the foreign-born population has grown by 6.4 million — larger than the individual populations of 33 states.”

Analysis

This is not only a problem for the United States, but this immigration surge is creating a problem for the nations where these migrants are coming from, as they are unable to economically recover because among the people crossing the border are the very people who could draw these countries out of the downward spiral they are currently facing.

Domestically speaking, we have all seen the problems this is creating in this country. Cities around the country are being stretched to the max in terms of providing shelter and care for these migrants, an overwhelming number of whom have no way to provide for themselves. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) just called Biden out for diverting resources from the VA to help provide medical care for these migrants, literally putting our veterans behind people who entered this country illegally.

Sadly, the media in this country is spinning all of this as a good thing for the country, claiming our economy is now roaring due to this massive influx of illegal immigrants to our population. So, raise your hand if you feel you are better off today than you were before Biden took office. All I know is that anytime I ask that question to a group of people, I see no hands in the air.
