Biden Adviser Caught Lying on Live TV – Called Out by Neil Cavuto

 May 17, 2024

For the last few weeks or so, Joe Biden has been pushing the narrative that inflation was at 9% when he took office, which is just a blatant lie.

Finally, someone in the media called out the Biden administration on this.

Inflation Rates Under Joe Biden

Three times now, in as many weeks, Biden has claimed that when he took over the White House, inflation was at 9%, which is just a lie. The White House has tried to spin this seven ways to Sunday, but nobody is buying it because we all know how low inflation was when Trump was in office and what he turned over to Joe Biden.

The average inflation rate during Trump's final year in office was 1.2% and 1.4% in December 2020 and January 2021. The average inflation rate throughout Trump's presidency was under 1.9%, never exceeding 2.9%.

It took Joe Biden all of three months for his energy policies to ruin this. Inflation rose to 4.2% in April 2021 and then steadily climbed through June 2022, when it peaked at 9.1%. The average inflation rate was 5.6% during Biden's first three years. Inflation is now back on the rise this year, starting at 3.1% and reaching 3.4% in April.

That's a Lie!

Biden has said twice that inflation was at 9% when he took office, and no member of the media has called him out to his face about it. When the Biden administration's chief economic adviser, Jared Bernstein, appeared on Fox News this week with Neil Cavuto, Cavuto finally called out the lie. He told Bernstein:

"Jared, why does he keep saying that? You're the head of the Council of Economic Advisers.

"Do you ever whisper in his ear, 'Mr. President, just to be technical about it, it wasn't at 9% when you assumed office, it was 1.4%. It got as high as 9% in 2022, you brought it down from that, but it was never ever ever 9% when you came into office.' So why does he keep saying it?"

Bernstein initially tried to deflect away from the issue, but Cavuto continued to keep him on point, which is when Bernstein then tried to spin, literally placing the blame for an inflation rate that took place two years into Biden's presidency on Trump, saying that the "factors that caused inflation to climb to 9% were in place when he took office." Cavuto then went off, stating:

"No, that's not what he said! He said it was at 9%. It would eventually get to 9% a little over a year after that, but the fact of the matter is it was at 9%.

"So if I can't trust him with quoting data in real-time, why should I believe what he's talking about now?"

As Bernstein tried to jump back in to start spinning again, Cavuto cut him off, continuing:

"It was not at that. You're just as bad as he is. Why can't you just say, 'It was high, it got as high as 9%' — you'd be accurate in saying that — And we have now brought it down, or were struggling around the 3% area, but it's better than it was.

"But instead to hang it on his… To hang it on his predecessor that you inherited something that was through the roof when we were in the middle of Covid, it just seems to the American people whether you're a Republican or a Democrat — you're lying!"

Analysis

If you watched that interview, you now know why the American people do not trust politicians. The factors that caused inflation to rise when Trump left office were not in place. Inflation went up because of Biden's policies, which were put in place immediately after Biden took office. Why Cavuto even allowed him to talk is beyond me because Bernstein was intent on pushing a lying narrative. When will Joe Biden be held accountable for what he has done to the country’s economy?
