Biden Admits Dems Pressured Him to Drop Out of the Race

 August 12, 2024

Joe Biden finally gave an interview after dropping out of the presidential race, and it was pretty telling on many different fronts.

One key point made, however, is that Biden admitted Democrats were pressuring him to drop out of the race, and he finally caved.

Talking Points…
- Biden pressured by Democrats
- New polling after Kamala enters race
- Analysis

Biden Admits Pressure by Dems Led to Election Withdrawal

As you know, had he stayed in the election, Joe Biden would have had a landslide loss. He would have won only the diehard blue states, and everything else would have fallen to Trump. The lack of excitement about the Biden campaign would have led to down-ballot disasters for Democrats, likely leading to the GOP holding the House and taking back the Senate, giving Republicans complete control of the government.

For weeks, Biden had stated that the party elites were the only ones who wanted him out of the race, but his tune changed a bit this weekend during an interview with CBS News. Biden stated that many of his Democrat colleagues had come to him or called him, telling them they were worried about their seats and the impact that staying in the race would have on the congressional elections. Biden stated:

"A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I would hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic, you'd be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say -why did - and I thought it'd be a real distraction."

Biden then stated that as far as he was concerned, he still had a shot, claiming that his internal polls showed that it was a "neck-and-neck race, it would have been down to the wire." If Biden truly had a poll that showed that, there is no way he would have dropped out of this race. Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), while claiming she never talked to Biden about this, is believed to have been one of the people pressuring Biden, recently admitting during an interview:

"Now I was really asking for a better campaign. We did not have a campaign that was on the path to victory. Members knew that in their districts."

New Polling with Harris in the Race

The change from Biden to Harris has energized the Democrat voting base, which was the biggest fear that the Republicans had here. Voters seem to forget that they hated Harris in the 2020 primary, knocking her out of the election before a single vote was cast. Now, she is the darling of the media, even though she has not done an interview in three weeks, having only spoken to the media after the big announcement and for about two minutes on the tarmac during a campaign event.

Democrats pulled this off with perfect timing. Harris's announcement took over the news cycle after the RNC to slam the brakes on Trump's momentum, then they had her confirmation via remote roll call, and Dems still have their national convention coming up. On top of that, we have several upcoming dates that will be negative press for Trump due to his legal problems.

Trump is showing panic in his Truth Social posts, and he and the RNC should be panicking right now because Harris is having a monster surge and without even having a platform on her campaign website, she has pushed past Trump in national polling and the three key Blue Wall battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Nationally, Harris is now beating Trump 45.9-43.5%. Trump was ahead of Biden by about three points when Biden dropped out of the race. Trump is still leading in Georgia, but now only by 0.3%. Harris has taken over the lead in Arizona, now beating Trump by 2.0%, where Trump had a significant lead over Biden. Harris is ahead in Michigan, 45.9-43.1%. In Nevada, Trump is up by 3.0% in the latest poll, but previous polls even had Trump and Harris dead. Harris has taken the lead in Pennsylvania, 45.7-44.5%. Harris has extended her lead in Wisconsin significantly, leading Trump by 2.3% in the average of all polling, but the recent New York Times-Sienna College poll has Harris up by 6%.

Analysis

This is a complete and utter disaster for Trump at this point because even though some of the averages are within the margin of error, Harris's numbers increase with every new poll. Yet the Trump campaign and the RNC can only say that they are not worried and that the honeymoon will wear off at some point. We are less than three months away, and the dates on the calendar say that Harris will have momentum on her side until at least mid-September.

The sad reality of this is that it never should have happened in the first place, and this is a point that I refuse to let go. The Democrats removed a candidate who had won his primary race, was elected by the people, and decided to replace him with another candidate, taking the American people out of the process. Now, Democrat voters could care less about this right now because it has put them back in the election, but we all know how this would play out if the GOP had been the party that decided to change candidates after the vote was taken. Democrats have set a new precedent in how a candidate can be placed in an election, and it has moved us one step further away from being a constitutional republic. What they did should be illegal, and the fact our media is not even objecting to it shows you that we also have state-run media right now. This is not the America that our Founding Fathers envisioned when they fought against the British Crown for our independence.
