Biden Admin Overlooked Deportation Order for Man Accused of Violent Crime

 June 19, 2024

A disturbing episode unfolds in New York City involving Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, an undocumented immigrant from Ecuador accused of a heinous act.

Daily Wire reported that Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, 25, who should have been deported in 2022 following a judge’s order, was arrested recently in New York City after allegedly raping a young girl.

In June 2021, Inga-Landi illegally entered the U.S. via Eagle Pass, Texas. Despite his illegal entry and lack of documentation, he was deemed inadmissible yet was allowed into the country for humanitarian reasons.

Failure in Follow-up: Overlooked Deportation Leads to Tragic Event

Fast-forward to February 2022. An immigration judge in New York City mandated Inga-Landi's deportation. However, the order was not executed, allowing him to remain in the U.S.

This oversight came to a head in June 2024 when Inga-Landi was implicated in an alarming assault on two 13-year-olds in Kissena Park. This startling incident involved him wielding a large machete-style knife, ambushing the teenagers, binding them, and engaging in sexual misconduct with one of them before robbing their phones.

Community Intervention and Arrest

The arrest followed swiftly after residents intervened heroically. Inga-Landi was detained by bystanders who, upon catching him, administered a severe beating, forcing him to seek refuge under a nearby car until police arrived.

Due to the beating, Inga-Landi required hospitalization before he could be processed into jail. This sequence of events culminated in a nearly four-year presence in the United States, plagued by legal and administrative disputes.

He was declared 'inadmissible' upon his arrival due to a lack of proper documentation to be in the U.S.. Still, he was released with the notice to appear in immigration court for 'humanitarian' reasons.

Legal and Administrative Challenges Highlighted

The system's failure to enforce the deportation order has sparked extensive debate and scrutiny, exposing potential gaps in the administration's enforcement mechanisms.

This case punctuates ongoing challenges within the U.S. immigration and deportation system, notably how administrative lapses can lead to severe community safety risks.

Reflecting local frustrations and concerns for safety, a resident who participated in subduing Inga-Landi described the intense scene. Out of anger and desperation, residents attacked Inga-Landi to the extent that he sought refuge under a car parked on the street for protection.

Reflecting on Immigration Policy and Community Safety

Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi's journey from an undocumented entry at the Texas border to a New York City jail cell casts a shadow over current immigration practices and policies. It underscores a dire need for stringent adherence to deportation orders, especially concerning individuals posing potential threats.

While the administration may face criticisms for its role in this oversight, this incident serves as a profound reminder of the complexities and imperatives of immigration control and public safety. As legal proceedings against Inga-Landi move forward, this case will likely serve as a significant point of reference in discussions about immigration enforcement and policy reform in the United States.
