All My Children actor Alan Dysert has died at 75 after years of battling a rare, aggressive cancer he once called incurable, leaving a wife who called their marriage the love of a lifetime.

Page Six reported that the soap star died on Friday. His wife, Michele, announced the news in a Facebook tribute and did not confirm a cause of death.

Dysert was best known as Sean Cudahy, the con man he played in 79 episodes of All My Children from 1980 to 1990. Away from the set he worked as a musician, writer, filmmaker, producer, and acting teacher.

In 2023 he published a memoir, Lights, Camera, Cancer!, describing a rare, aggressive, and incurable cancer diagnosis. The book detailed four major cancer-related surgeries, a recurrence, chemotherapy, and 29 CT scans.

Wife remembers a lifetime of love and grit

Michele wrote that she was struggling to imagine life without him, yet remained grateful for what many people spend their lives searching for.

"While I am struggling to imagine life without him, I am forever grateful to have experienced what so many people spend their lives searching for, the love of a lifetime,"

She said he faced more than his share of health challenges over the years, yet kept approaching life with determination, humor, and gratitude. He fought hard for the life he loved, and she was honored to stand beside him through it all.

Most viewers knew him from the soap. Others knew him as the teacher and mentor who pushed students to believe in themselves and chase their dreams. Michele described an extraordinary life that ran from humble beginnings on a farm in rural Illinois to work as an actor, musician, writer, filmmaker, producer, and beloved acting teacher. He studied television at the University of Illinois before pursuing acting.

She said he had an incredible gift for storytelling, a wonderful sense of humor, an adventurous spirit, and a personality that could fill any room. The couple shared a love that was truly special. They loved traveling and laughing together.

"He never needed a room full of people or an elaborate plan to enjoy ourselves. We genuinely loved each other’s company. Even after all our years together, life with Alan was never boring."

Michele called on loved ones, including their sons, Cody and Cooper, and everyone whose life he touched to remember him with a smile, share a favorite story, and celebrate the joy he brought into the world.

"My heart is broken, but I am so thankful for the love of a lifetime. I will love you always," she wrote.

Family, faith, and grit still matter more than fame. A man who kept showing up for the life he loved leaves that example behind.
