Aerosmith, the iconic rock group, bids farewell to tour.
According to Daily Mail, after an illustrious 54-year journey, Aerosmith, fronted by Steven Tyler, has declared its retirement from touring due to Tyler's irreversible vocal cord damage.
Founded in Boston in 1970, Aerosmith grew into a powerhouse in the rock music industry, celebrated for hits like "Dream On" and "Sweet Emotion." The band's widespread appeal has led to over 150 million records sold globally.
Steven Tyler, who is now 76, experienced significant vocal cord damage during the "Peace Out: The Farewell Tour." This tour was meant to be the band's last hurrah, starting in September 2023, but was cut short. Tyler's health took a turn after a performance in Elmont, New York, pushing the band to eventually cancel the tour altogether.
A high-profile collaboration with Run-DMC on "Walk This Way" is among the memorable moments that cemented their reputation. Their music has not only achieved commercial success but also earned them four Grammy Awards and an induction into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
The band expressed their deep appreciation for their fans in a heartfelt statement, highlighting how fans have been an integral part of their music journey. "IT WAS 1970 WHEN A SPARK OF INSPIRATION BECAME AEROSMITH. THANKS TO YOU, OUR BLUE ARMY, THAT SPARK CAUGHT FLAME AND HAS BEEN BURNING FOR OVER FIVE DECADES," the band said.
Steven Tyler's team shared his struggle with recovery: "HE HAS SPENT MONTHS TIRELESSLY WORKING ON GETTING HIS VOICE TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE HIS INJURY. WE'VE SEEN HIM STRUGGLING DESPITE HAVING THE BEST MEDICAL TEAM BY HIS SIDE."
After doctors gave a grim outlook on Tyler’s vocal recovery possibilities, Aerosmith took the tough decision. "SADLY, IT IS CLEAR, THAT A FULL RECOVERY FROM HIS VOCAL INJURY IS NOT POSSIBLE. WE HAVE MADE A HEARTBREAKING AND DIFFICULT, BUT NECESSARY, DECISION - AS A BAND OF BROTHERS- TO RETIRE FROM THE TOURING STAGE," announced the band.
Despite their retirement from live performances, Aerosmith's members remain significant figures in music, with decades of contributions that have influenced numerous bands and artists.
Tyler, alongside Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford, has crafted a legacy that new and old fans will continue to celebrate.
