Gypsy Rose Blanchard slammed gossip over her ex-fiancé Ken Urker’s death and launched a petition against online harassment, telling people simply to be kind.

Page Six reported that Blanchard posted on Instagram on Thursday next to a photo of roses and an envelope addressed to Urker. She used the hashtag for a petition she had just started and confronted the chatter that followed his death.

Blanchard wrote that gossip can become the darkest stretch of a person’s life. She ended the message with two plain words: be kind.

"Your gossip could be the darkest time in someone’s life."

She added the short closer “Be kind” and tagged the post “#kenanslaw.”

Urker was found dead at his Louisiana home on his 34th birthday. A Lafourche Parish public information officer said he was “found dead upon arrival.” Police said they found no evidence of foul play and are continuing the death investigation. A police report obtained by Page Six noted drug paraphernalia and a gun at the scene.

Shortly after the news broke, Blanchard said on social media that she believed Urker died of a suspected overdose. Absolute cause of death has not been publicly settled beyond the continuing inquiry.

Petition targets platform handling of harassment reports

Last weekend Blanchard started an online harassment petition under the name #kenanslaw. She said Urker faced an “overwhelming amount of online scrutiny” plus “targeted harassment and cyberbullying” before he died. The experience, she wrote, “has made me determined to turn pain into purpose.”

"I cannot change what happened, but I can advocate for a better system for the next person who feels like no one is listening."

Blanchard insisted the push “is about changing the way social-media platforms handle repeated reports of harassment” and is “not about silencing criticism or taking away anyone’s freedom of speech.”

She and her 1-year-old daughter Aurora attended a private memorial for Urker in Louisiana on Saturday. Aurora turns 2 in December. Urker’s sister Autumn was reportedly not there. Autumn has accused Blanchard of lying about details around the death; the specific claims were not laid out in the reporting.

Breakup came weeks earlier amid mental-health strain

Page Six first reported the couple had officially split about a month before Urker died. An unnamed source told the outlet Blanchard still wanted him back.

"She missed him. She wanted him back, obviously, and he just wasn’t in the right frame of mind. His mentality of mental health wasn’t good for the past few months."

Their history stretches back years. Blanchard, now 35, met Urker in 2017 while she was in prison for her role in the murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. They got engaged about a year later and broke up in 2019. After her release she married Louisiana teacher Ryan Scott Anderson in June 2022, filed for divorce in 2024, and later rekindled the romance with Urker. Their final texts were about their daughter.

Online piles-on do not stay online. When platforms shrug at repeated harassment reports, real people absorb the damage, sometimes right up to the day they die. Kindness costs nothing; the alternative keeps collecting bodies.
