Ms. Rachel turns preschool YouTube fame into media fortune while funding progressive candidates

Ms. Rachel has built a preschool media empire of Netflix shows, books and toys while donating roughly $22,500 to progressive candidates since 2024.

Rachel Accurso, the children’s entertainer known as Ms. Rachel, now sits at the center of a fast-growing preschool brand. Fox News Digital reports the former New York City preschool teacher has moved from a 2019 YouTube launch to deals with Netflix, Penguin Random House and Spin Master toys stocked at Target and Amazon.

Federal and New York campaign records show the same period brought steady checks to Democratic and progressive candidates, including figures who push to abolish ICE and cut military support for Israel. Accurso has not hidden the politics. In March she said, “I am political,” while describing her opposition to ICE.

Parents who treat her videos as daily help for toddlers are watching a brand that looks more like Sesame Street than a spare-bedroom channel. They are also watching the donor behind it.

From speech-delay videos to 21 million subscribers

Accurso started the channel in 2019 after finding few media tools for her son’s speech delay. The “Songs for Littles” format grew into a staple for families with young children. She now holds more than 21 million YouTube subscribers.

James Zahn, editor-in-chief of The Toy Book, placed her beside the biggest names in the category.

"Ms. Rachel is a children's entertainer, a personality that spawned from the YouTube ecosystem and has now become a fixture alongside other big preschool brands like Sesame Street or Bluey or Cocomelon,"

Zahn told Fox News Digital. He added that for families with “littles,” she is already part of daily life.

Forbes ranked her No. 20 on its 2025 Top Creators list with $23 million in annual earnings. Her net worth is reportedly estimated around $50 million. She is 43.

Books, Netflix and a toy bidding war

The commercial expansion moved quickly. Penguin Random House partnered with her in 2024 on children’s books. Netflix followed in 2025. Spin Master debuted a Ms. Rachel toy line earlier this year, with products reaching Target and Amazon shelves.

Zahn said toy makers saw the reach early. In the years before the Spin Master deal there was a bidding war. He recalled noticing her at Toy Fair New York taking meetings out of character. Industry talk shifted to a simple question: who would get the Ms. Rachel toys?

David Kleeman, senior vice president of global trends at Dubit, described the wider pattern. Today’s children want to play with the media they watch, act it out and wear the clothing. Parents, told they are their child’s first teacher, often look for outside help. That demand built the lane Accurso now occupies.

Zahn noted the Netflix deal also reaches homes that keep kids off YouTube. Analog toys still matter for the youngest viewers even in a screen-heavy world.

Campaign cash followed the brand deals

Campaign-finance records tracked by Fox News Digital show Accurso has given roughly $22,500 to Democratic and progressive candidates since 2024.

The day after President Biden left the race and endorsed Kamala Harris, Accurso sent $250 to the Harris Victory Fund. In the following days she added $750 more to Harris for President and the Victory Fund. By September 2024 another $2,000 brought the Harris-related total to $3,000.

FEC records also show $3,000 to Abdul El-Sayed’s Michigan Senate campaign in July. El-Sayed has repeatedly alleged Israel is committing a “genocide” in Gaza.

New York races drew heavier sums. NYC Campaign Finance Board records obtained by Fox News Digital show a $5,000 donation to Cameron Kasky’s congressional campaign and a $1,500 refund issued the same day. Throughout 2026, records show $12,000 more across state and federal New York contests: $5,000 to Yuh-Line Niou’s state Senate bid, $3,500 to Democratic socialist Darializa Avila Chevalier, and $4,500 to former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander. Chevalier and Lander won their Democratic nominations. Niou fell short earlier in the cycle.

Kasky, a survivor of the 2018 Parkland, Florida, high school shooting, ran on abolishing ICE, ending military funding to Israel and tighter gun laws. He left the race in January 2026 after a West Bank trip and a new focus, described in his public posts, on stopping “settler violence.”

Niou, Chevalier and Lander have also drawn notice for criticism of Israel and of ICE. Accurso’s giving clustered with candidates who share those positions.

Public politics meet the preschool brand

Accurso has mixed public political statements with the gentle on-screen persona. Beyond the ICE remarks, Fox News Digital reported scrutiny after a 2025 video in which she referred to Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza as her “friend.” Days later, reporting tied to Azaiza described his admission that he withheld footage of Israeli hostages being beaten by a crowd in Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023.

Kleeman drew a line between the character and the person.

"Ms. Rachel has created ‘Ms. Rachel,’ as opposed to Rachel Accurso."

He said viewers often struggle to separate the two. He also said she has kept the material aimed at children focused on development, learning and play.

"I think she's been very careful to keep what she puts out to children focused on the child development, on the learning, on the play,"

Kleeman added that any platform carrying a real person must weigh how cleanly that person delivers the children’s content, separate from everything around it.

Zahn said there is little precedent for a children’s entertainer whose off-screen comments divide audiences. Companies, he said, can back the star, push back, distance themselves, or say nothing. Sometimes silence is the choice they make.

Fox News Digital reached out to Accurso, Netflix, Penguin Random House and Spin Master for comment.

Parents get the songs; campaigns get the checks

The business story is straightforward. A niche YouTube project became a multi-platform preschool property with books, streaming episodes and toys. Earnings figures and retailer placement put Accurso in the top tier of children’s media personalities.

The political story runs beside it. The same years that produced the Penguin, Netflix and Spin Master deals also produced five-figure support for candidates who treat ICE as a target and cast Israel’s war against Hamas in the harshest terms. Accurso has said outright that she is political. The donation records match the claim.

Families still hit play for the songs and the calm voice. Progressive campaigns still clear the checks. Corporate partners have so far kept the products on the shelf.

Preschool fame pays well. So does telling parents you are only here for the littles while the donor file tells a different story.
