An elderly Houston homeowner shot an alleged intruder who kicked in his front door after repeatedly warning the stranger to stop and leave, police said.
The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon shortly after 1 p.m. in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood. Police say a man forced entry through the front door of a private home and met armed resistance from the resident inside.
An HPD officer at the scene told local reporters the homeowner did not open fire on impulse. He first ordered the alleged intruder to stop and leave.

Officers recovered a.38-caliber handgun at the scene. The alleged intruder was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police have not released either man’s name.

That same officer account described the homeowner’s response in plain terms. The elderly resident “repeatedly told the alleged intruder to stop and leave the home” before using the handgun.

"Police have not released the identities of the homeowner or the man who was shot. It’s also unclear whether any charges will be filed. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation,"
KENS5 noted that officers recovered the.38-caliber handgun when they arrived. No further weapon details were released in the initial reports.
As of the first local reports, HPD had not named the elderly homeowner or the man who was shot. No arrest announcement followed the hospital transport. Prosecutors had not signaled charging decisions either way.
