Erika Kirk Shares Emotional Insights on Family’s Loss

 November 3, 2025, NEWS

In a heartrending interview, Erika Kirk, the new CEO of Turning Point USA, opened up about the profound loss of her husband, Charlie Kirk, and the tender struggles of explaining his absence to their young children.

This poignant story unfolds with Erika Kirk detailing her family’s grief after Charlie Kirk’s tragic assassination on Sept. 10, alongside her determination to carry forward his mission with unyielding resolve, as The Daily Caller reports.

The tragedy struck on Sept. 10, when Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative voice, was taken from his family in a shocking act of violence.

Navigating Grief with Young Children

Erika Kirk shared her heartbreak during an interview on "Jesse Watters Primetime," aired on a Wednesday, where she recounted her 3-year-old daughter’s innocent yet piercing questions about her father’s whereabouts.

Initially, Kirk softened the blow by telling her daughter that her father was on a “business trip with Jesus” to fund her “blueberry budget,” a creative way to shield a child from harsh reality.

Yet, the little girl persists in asking if she can visit her father in Heaven, a question that tugs at the heartstrings of anyone who values family above all.

Comforting Words Amid Sorrow

Kirk gently reassures her daughter with hope, promising that they will all reunite in Heaven someday, a comforting thought rooted in faith over fleeting progressive platitudes.

“Yes, my daughter continues to ask, but it’s really sweet because I keep explaining to her a few things. And I said, ‘if ever you want to talk to daddy, you just look up to the sky and start talking to him. He can hear you,’” Kirk shared on "Jesse Watters Primetime."

“And I told her, I said, ‘you know, daddy is in heaven.’ She goes, ‘you think I could go sometime?’ I said, ‘baby, we will all go one day. We will all go one day,’” she continued, showcasing a mother’s strength in the face of unimaginable pain.

Honoring a Legacy Through Tears

In another moving moment, Kirk broke down while watching a lengthy video of her husband, admitting it was the longest she had viewed since his passing.

Her daughter’s joy at seeing a photo of Charlie outside Turning Point USA’s headquarters, chanting his name with excitement, reveals the deep bond that endures beyond loss.

Even during a ceremony for Charlie’s Presidential Medal of Freedom, the young girl wished her father a happy birthday, hoping for a “birthday surprise,” a bittersweet reminder of innocence amid grief.

Stepping Into Leadership with Purpose

On Sept. 12, just days after the tragedy, Kirk made her first public address, vowing that her husband’s movement would not falter but grow stronger against any opposition.

“The evildoers responsible for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and of God’s merciful love,” Kirk declared on "Jesse Watters Primetime," her words a rallying cry for those who cherish traditional values over divisive agendas.

She continued, “They should all know this. If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before, you have no idea. You have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country and this world,” a bold promise that Turning Point USA, under her leadership since Sept. 18 as CEO and board chair, will be an unstoppable force for conservative principles.
