Maryland Official Demands Teacher Resignation Over Controversial Post

 September 13, 2025, NEWS

A social media post by a Maryland educator has ignited a firestorm of controversy following the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday.

Fox News reported that on Wednesday, a Salisbury Middle School teacher in Wicomico County, Maryland, allegedly shared a meme about Kirk's assassination, prompting widespread outrage and a call for resignation from Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano, while the local school district reviews the incident.

The online post, reported by local outlet WBOC, featured a graphic suggesting a conversation involving President Donald Trump.

It has drawn sharp criticism from many in the Delmarva region.

Community members expressed dismay over this and other social media reactions by local educators to Kirk's passing.

Official Response to Inappropriate Online Content

Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano voiced strong disapproval of the reactions circulating online.

She emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable in her community.

Giordano also confirmed she was informed of the specific post attributed to the Salisbury Middle School employee.

School District Addresses Community Concerns

On Wednesday evening, Wicomico County Public Schools learned of the troubling post, as communicated to Fox News Digital the following day.

The district is actively examining the educator's actions that led to this public outcry.

Here is a statement from Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano regarding her stance on the incident and her expectations for those in educational roles:

I am aware of the concerns regarding a post allegedly made by a staff member at Salisbury Middle School. While personnel matters fall under the responsibility of the Board of Education and the superintendent, I share in the concern and outrage that someone entrusted with the care and education of our children would engage in such behavior. Our children deserve to be taught and mentored by adults who model respect, compassion and responsibility.

The situation continues to unfold as Giordano announced on social media her intent to formally request the teacher's resignation through a letter to the Wicomico County Board of Education and the Superintendent on Thursday morning, while the school district maintains it cannot discuss personnel issues but assures the matter is being handled with care to uphold a respectful learning environment.
