According to the Daily Mail, Tragedy struck Minnesota with a chilling wave of violence as Vance Boelter, a 57-year-old Trump supporter, stands accused of targeting Democratic lawmakers in a pair of horrifying attacks.

In just hours on Saturday, Boelter allegedly shot and killed State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark in Champlin, while also seriously injuring State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette in Brooklyn Park, with his wife Jenny later detained under suspicious circumstances near Onamia.

The nightmare began around 2 a.m. Saturday, when police responded to a distress call at Hoffman’s Brooklyn Park home, they found both him and Yvette critically wounded. Roughly eight miles away, another tragedy unfolded at 3 a.m. in Champlin, where Hortman and Mark were fatally shot in their residence.

Police Confront Masked Gunman in Tense Standoff

Officers spotted the suspect at Hortman’s home around 3:35 a.m., clad in police gear and a full-head costume mask, leading to a fierce gun battle. The assailant retreated inside before bolting out the back on foot, vanishing into the night as authorities lost track.

Boelter, still at large as of Sunday morning, is considered armed and dangerous, with police discovering rifles in his vehicle and suspecting he retains a pistol. The FBI, labeling the attacks politically motivated, has slapped a $50,000 reward on information leading to his capture.

Inside Boelter’s car, investigators uncovered a disturbing mix of ‘No Kings’ flyers—echoing anti-Trump protests nationwide—and a hit list targeting abortion rights advocates, many of them Democratic figures. For a man described as a Trump supporter opposed to abortion, per his roommate, this paints a grim picture of intent.

Boelter’s Wife Detained with Suspicious Cargo

Meanwhile, Jenny Boelter, Vance’s wife, was stopped by authorities at 10 a.m. Saturday, near a convenience store in Onamia, some 75 miles from the crime scenes. Her car, carrying three relatives, held a weapon, ammunition, cash, and passports—items raising eyebrows just eight hours after the shootings.

Over a dozen officers swarmed the vehicle, lingering at the scene for hours, though no arrests were made. Jenny was detained for questioning, leaving open whether this stop was random or part of a targeted track by law enforcement.

Adding layers to this saga, both Vance and Jenny once worked under Gov. Tim Walz, with Vance serving on the Workforce Development Board in two stints. Such ties to state leadership contrast sharply with the violent path he’s now accused of taking.

Boelter’s Past Reveals Complex, Troubled Figure

Boelter’s background is a patchwork of contradictions—from armed security gigs across the Middle East and Africa with Praetorian Guard Security Services to a stint as CEO of Red Lion Group in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His bio once boasted, “He brings a great security aspect,” yet now that expertise seems turned to darker ends.

More recently, Boelter returned stateside seeking food industry roles, a far cry from his past as a pastor who spoke of meeting Jesus at 17 during a 2023 church service in Africa. “I met the Lord,” he declared then, but his alleged actions suggest a profound disconnect.

Texts to roommates the night before the shootings hinted at his plans, with messages like, “I’m going to be gone,” as read by roommate David Carlson. Such words now carry an ominous weight, a prelude to chaos.

Victims Represented Minnesota’s Progressive Heart

The victims, meanwhile, embodied Minnesota’s progressive push—Hortman, a two-decade lawmaker and former House Speaker, championed reproductive rights and family leave, often saying, “The most rewarding piece... is paid family leave.” Her loss, alongside Mark, a devoted attorney and father, stings deeply.

Sen. Hoffman, a veteran public servant, and his wife Yvette remain in critical condition after emergency surgeries, their community praying for recovery. These attacks, set against a backdrop of ‘No Kings’ protests nationwide, underscore a troubling rift in our political landscape, one where policy disagreements turn deadly—a trend conservatives must condemn as firmly as any overreach by the left.
