Senator Fetterman denounces L.A. riots as chaotic anarchy

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) just threw a curveball at his own party by calling out the violent riots in Los Angeles for what they are: pure, unadulterated anarchy.

The story unfolding in L.A. is a far cry from peaceful protest, and Fetterman’s bold stance has sparked a firestorm of debate. As reported by Breitbart, the senator publicly broke ranks with fellow Democrats who’ve been quick to downplay the chaos.

Let’s set the scene: anti-ICE riots have erupted in Los Angeles, with protesters hurling rocks at law enforcement, firing off fireworks at mounted police, torching self-driving cars, looting local businesses, and even waving foreign flags. It’s a mess that would make any law-abiding citizen’s blood boil. And yet, some prominent Democrats are calling this a “peaceful demonstration.”

Fetterman Takes a Principled Stand

Fetterman, in a sharp post on X, didn’t mince words. “I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration—but this is not that,” he declared. It’s refreshing to see a politician call a spade a spade, especially when the stakes are this high.

He went further, labeling the riots “anarchy and true chaos” and pointing out the obvious: his party risks losing any claim to moral authority when it refuses to condemn violence. “My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement,” Fetterman wrote. That’s a zinger with the precision of a surgeon’s scalpel—polite, but cutting right to the heart of the issue.

Contrast this with the response from other Democratic leaders, and you’ve got a masterclass in political disconnect. California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have both described the riots as “peaceful protests.” If this is peaceful, one shudders to imagine what they’d consider a real uproar.

Democrats Blame Trump for Violence

Then there’s former Vice President Kamala Harris, who chimed in with a statement that’s technically a sentence, in the same way a brick wall is technically a conversation starter. “Deploying the National Guard is a dangerous escalation meant to provoke chaos,” she claimed. Apparently, maintaining order is now the problem, not the folks setting fire to vehicles.

Other Democrats, including Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), have echoed the sentiment, insisting the riots are somehow President Donald Trump’s fault for cracking down on unauthorized migration. They argue that Trump’s decision to arrest individuals in violation of immigration law is the real spark behind the violence. It’s a bold strategy—blaming the rule of law for the actions of those breaking it.

Let’s not forget California Sen. Adam Schiff (D), who called Trump’s move to federalize thousands of National Guardsmen “unprecedented” and “designed to inflame tensions.” Newsom doubled down, labeling the deployment “purposefully inflammatory.” One might ask if ignoring rampant violence is the more inflammatory choice, but that question seems to be off the table.

National Guard Deployment Sparks Debate

Speaking of the National Guard, Trump signed a presidential memorandum to federalize 2,000 California Guardsmen to restore order amid the escalating riots. It’s a decisive move, one that signals a refusal to let chaos reign unchecked. But Democrats are framing it as an act of aggression rather than a response to aggression.

Harris, ever the wordsmith, called the deployment part of a “cruel, calculated agenda to spread panic and division.” If protecting citizens and property from vandalism and violence is panic-spreading, then perhaps we’ve redefined the term entirely. It’s progress, if you define progress as spinning in circles with unbridled enthusiasm.

The riots themselves paint a grim picture: law enforcement under siege, businesses looted, and public safety hanging by a thread. Fetterman’s condemnation stands out as a rare voice of reason in a sea of excuses. While others dodge accountability, he’s asking the hard questions about where the line is drawn.

Chaos in L.A. Demands Accountability

What’s happening in Los Angeles isn’t a protest—it’s a breakdown of order, plain and simple. When rocks are thrown at officers, fireworks aimed at horses, and livelihoods destroyed through looting, no amount of political spin can whitewash the reality. Fetterman gets it, even if others in his party are playing a different game.

The refusal of some Democratic leaders to acknowledge the violence for what it is risks alienating Americans who value safety and stability over ideological posturing. It’s not about stifling free speech or demonizing immigration—it’s about ensuring that dissent doesn’t devolve into destruction. Fetterman’s stance is a reminder that principles can and should cross party lines.

As the situation in L.A. unfolds, the divide between rhetoric and reality grows starker. Will more leaders follow Fetterman’s lead and call out anarchy for what it is, or will they cling to narratives that crumble under scrutiny? For now, at least one voice in the Democratic camp is willing to face the fire—both literal and political.
