Trial Begins For Capitol Rioter Arrested Near Obama’s Home

 May 13, 2025, NEWS

Taylor Taranto, a Navy veteran turned Capitol rioter, finally faces the music in a D.C. courtroom. His trial for firearms violations and a hoax bomb threat kicked off on Tuesday, January 2025, proving that even MAGA warriors can’t dodge every bullet. Actions, it seems, have consequences, the Times of India reported.

Taranto’s saga began on Jan. 6, 2021, when he joined a mob storming the U.S. Capitol, one of over 1,500 charged in the chaos. While former President Donald Trump’s mass pardons freed most rioters, Taranto remained behind bars, his case too messy for a get-out-of-jail-free card. The woke crowd must be fuming that their “insurrection” narrative keeps unraveling.

Back in 2021, Taranto breached the Capitol, lingering near the Speaker’s Lobby where Ashli Babbitt was fatally shot by police. His wife claimed he was lured to D.C. by then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s promise to release unseen riot footage. Funny how the left calls it “treason” when patriots demand transparency.

From Rioter To Armed Threat

Taranto’s troubles escalated in June 2023 when he was nabbed near Barack Obama’s posh D.C. residence. That day, Trump posted what he claimed was Obama’s address on social media, and Taranto, ever the loyalist, reposted it with a fiery, “We got these losers surrounded!” The left’s pearl-clutching over “threats” ignores their history of fiery rhetoric.

In a YouTube livestream, Taranto rambled about seeking “entrance points” to underground tunnels and a “good angle on a shot.” Prosecutors, predictably, called it an “ominous, threatening plan,” but his defense insists he’s just a quirky “journalist” with a comedian’s flair. The woke prosecution’s overreach is almost laughable.

Investigators found a small arsenal in Taranto’s van: two guns, 500 rounds of ammo, and a machete. He was charged with carrying firearms without a license, possessing illegal magazines, and making a hoax bomb threat. The Second Amendment doesn’t cover livestreamed bravado.

Livestreaming His Downfall

Capitol police spotted Taranto’s livestream, where he claimed a “one-way” trip to Maryland’s National Institute of Standards and Technology. His defense argues he had no bomb-making materials and wasn’t near the institute, but Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee, wasn’t buying it. Nichols ruled Taranto too dangerous to roam free.

Taranto’s own words didn’t help: “Coming at you McCarthy. Can’t stop what’s coming.” Sounds like a patriot’s rallying cry, but the feds spun it as a threat. The left’s obsession with silencing dissent is as predictable as a D.C. traffic jam.

During his livestream, Taranto also took a swipe at John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign chair, writing, “See you in hell, Podesta’s and Obama’s.” The outrage from liberal elites is rich, considering their allies have hurled worse at MAGA supporters. Hypocrisy, anyone?

Trial Under A Trump Shadow

Taranto’s trial, overseen by Nichols without a jury, hinges on charges “wholly unrelated” to Trump’s Jan. 6 pardons, per prosecutors. Trump’s Justice Department clarified that pardons covered some riot-related gun charges, but Taranto’s antics near Obama’s home were a bridge too far. Even MAGA loyalty has its limits. The government’s first witness, an FBI agent, recounted the frantic search triggered by Taranto’s video. Capitol police, already on edge, thought they heard a bomb threat in his ramblings. The left loves inflating “threats” to justify their surveillance state.

Taranto’s defense attorney, Pleasant Brodnax, painted him as a misunderstood soul who “believes he is a journalist and, to some extent, a comedian.” The woke mob won’t laugh, but maybe they should—Taranto’s absurdity exposes their own. Still, his arsenal wasn’t exactly a punchline.

Jailed And Shunned By Peers

Since his 2023 arrest, Taranto has been locked up in a Washington jail, where he was attacked by inmates. Other Jan. 6 defendants shunned him for badmouthing Ashli Babbitt, a martyr to many MAGA faithful. Betraying your own doesn’t win friends in lockup. Taranto also faced four misdemeanor charges tied to the Capitol riot, but those are overshadowed by his firearms case. His proximity to Obama’s home and his inflammatory posts made him a lightning rod for prosecutors eager to score points. The left’s vendetta against Jan. 6 patriots never sleeps.

As Taranto’s trial unfolds, it’s a reminder that even in a post-pardon world, the feds play hardball with those who challenge the establishment. The woke elite may cheer, but Taranto’s case exposes their double standards on “threats” and “free speech.” MAGA’s fight for truth marches on, undeterred.
