According to Fox News, the controversy centers around claims of his cognitive decline, which President Biden and his wife vehemently deny, juxtaposed with accusations from a notable journalist citing a cover-up within the White House.
During a recent appearance on "The View," President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden addressed the allegations detailed in various publications that question the president's mental fitness.
President Biden dismissed these allegations straightforwardly, asserting, "They are wrong," and maintained that no tangible evidence supports the claims of his mental decline.
Jill Biden emphasized that the critics, notably the authors behind these assertions, were not privy to the inner workings of the White House. "One of the things, I think, is that the people who wrote those books were not in the White House with us," she stated. They were not witnesses to President Biden's diligent routine.
Jill Biden shared insights into the President's schedule, revealing, "He’d get up. He’d put in a full day, and then at night he would — I’d be in bed, you know, reading my book, and he was still on the phone, reading his briefings. Working with staff. I mean, it was nonstop."
This narrative of an active and engaged president contrasts sharply with the claims brought forward by Alex Thompson, a reporter for Axios, who paints a different picture based on his investigative reporting.
In a contrasting view presented during an interview with CNN's Boris Sanchez, Thompson articulated that his findings were supported by several White House insiders. They allegedly witnessed what they believe to be a "significant decline" in Biden's mental faculties. "Well, I‘d say, our reporting shows that many people inside the Biden White House disagree, and they do believe that there was a significant decline and a cover-up of that, especially in 2023 and 2024," Thompson explained.
