Jill Biden, former First Lady, is now leading a new initiative focused on women's health.

According to the Daily Caller, Jill Biden has officially taken the role of chair at the Milken Institute's Women’s Health Network, aiming to boost research and development in women's health.

Having left the White House in January 2025, Jill Biden has embarked on a significant new project with the Milken Institute, a think tank that regularly convenes global leaders to discuss vital issues impacting the world today. Leaders launched the Women’s Health Network, the initiative Jill Biden will lead, to reverse the trends of underinvestment in research uniquely affecting women.

Focusing on Women's Health and Education

By heading the Women’s Health Network, Jill Biden applies her educational and leadership skills to a critical area of public health. The network concentrates on enhancing and initiating new research efforts across various facets of women's health.

Jill Biden, who holds a doctorate in education, maintains her deep involvement in educational pursuits alongside her new role. Before her tenure as First Lady, she made significant contributions to women's health issues by founding the Biden Breast Health Initiative in 1993.

"Michael Milken founded the Milken Institute, which has addressed broad policy issues through its platforms and events and drew attention in 2020 when President Donald Trump controversially pardoned him. This includes everything from tax reforms to educational policies.

New Developments in Women's Health

Jill Biden led the Milken Institute in expressing enthusiasm about the positive impact she is expected to bring, with Esther Krofah, executive vice president of Milken Institute Health, releasing an official statement. 'The Milken Institute is grateful for Dr. Biden’s leadership during her tenure in the White House and her steadfast commitment to championing investment in women’s health. We are so pleased she will join us as we launch and grow the Women’s Health Network,' said Krofah.

Following the 2024 election, Jill Biden has demonstrated her commitment to supporting political initiatives and fulfilling her responsibilities within the Democratic Party, offering her assistance in any capacity possible.

Jill Biden’s efforts and transitions into these roles occur in parallel with former President Joe Biden's re-engagement in politics and their mutual venture into book writing.

Addressing the Challenge of Underinvestment

Highlighting the challenge at hand, Esther Krofah commented on the critical issue of underinvestment in women’s health.

Data shows that women’s health faces persistent underinvestment in research and innovation across many disease conditions that affect women uniquely, differently, or disproportionately. However, we know progress is possible, and it can be achieved through partnerships in the Network that can transform women’s health and well-being for years to come.

This insight defines the ethos driving the Women’s Health Network under Jill Biden’s chairmanship—an effort the Biden administration matched in February 2024 by earmarking $100 million for women’s health research, showcasing a governmental push in the same direction.

Legacy Continues Beyond the White House

As Jill Biden navigates her post-White House career trajectory, her role in the Women’s Health Network stands as a prominent testament to her ongoing commitment to public service, particularly in areas of significant need like women's health.

Jill Biden’s involvement in the Women’s Health Network marks a significant turning point in addressing long-standing challenges in women's health research and innovation. Her academic background and historical advocacy for health initiatives uniquely position her to galvanize substantial progress in this essential sector. With this new role, Jill Biden not only continues her lifelong commitment to service and health but also highlights the critical importance of targeted efforts in the healthcare industry to address the needs of women across the globe.
