The Trump administration has leveled accusations of mortgage fraud against New York Attorney General Letitia James.
According to Fox News, the Federal Housing Finance Agency has prompted a criminal referral to the DOJ concerning James's alleged involvement in mortgage fraud operations.
The accusations claim that Letitia James falsified documents to meet lending criteria favorably. This allegedly allowed her to secure beneficial terms on loans for properties in Virginia and New York.
The individual at the center of these allegations, Letitia James, finds her practices from decades past under intense scrutiny. Documents from the years 1983 and 2000 purportedly show James and her father listed as "husband and wife," which raise significant questions about the validity of her mortgage applications.
FHFA Director William Pulte communicated these concerns to Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday. The referral details the alleged falsification involving properties owned by James.

The Supreme Court just stated earlier in March, in a case called Thompson, that they want to see knowing false statements under sections, like 10-14, not just misleading statements. These are misleading statements. Either it's your principal residence or it's not. Either you're married to your father or he's your father.
