According to the New York Post, the CBP One phone app, previously utilized to admit over a million migrants under the Biden administration, now features a self-deport option.
Introduced under former President Joe Biden, the CBP One app was primarily used to manage the intake of migrants seeking entry into the United States. However, it underwent significant alterations right after President Donald Trump resumed office, signaling a substantial pivot in immigration policy.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced the changes on Monday. These modifications are intended to encourage migrants without legal status to arrange their departure from the U.S. voluntarily, bypassing the involvement of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in more forceful deportation procedures.
The app now includes a feature labeled "Submit Intent To Depart." This button allows migrants to directly inform U.S. immigration authorities of their decision to leave the country voluntarily.
