Will Cain Appointed As Host For Fox News’ 4 PM Weekday Slot

 January 13, 2025

Significant changes are coming to Fox News Channel's weekday programming.

Fox News reported that starting January 21, Will Cain will anchor the new 4 p.m. ET slot with "The Will Cain Show."

As part of these changes, Will Cain, the current co-host of "FOX & Friends Weekend," is moving to a weekday slot, as announced by Fox News Channel CEO Suzanne Scott. This transition is, in fact, a segment of broader modifications at both Fox News and FOX Business Network, all aimed at refreshing their programming.

A Detailed Look at Fox News Programming Changes

The new show hosted by Cain will foster dialogues with influencers from various fields such as politics, sports, business, and culture. Additionally, Cain will continue his work with "The Will Cain Show" podcast, which remains active and will release new episodes concurrently broadcasted on FOX News Digital.

In relation to Cain’s new gig, Charlie Hurt will replace him on "FOX & Friends Weekend" starting January 18. Currently, Hurt holds the position of opinion editor at The Washington Times, a role he will resign from to undertake his new responsibilities.

Moreover, this adjustment in hosting roles is complemented by other expansions in the network’s schedule. For example, "The Fox Report" and "The Big Weekend Show" on Fox News are set to extend to two hours on weekend days, starting the same date as Hurt's new role begins.

New Ventures for Established Names

Moreover, on the sister channel, FOX Business Network (FBN), changes include an extended role for Dagen McDowell. Specifically, starting January 27, McDowell will join "The Big Money Show," which will air from 12 to 2 p.m. ET on weekdays. In addition, she will also maintain her co-host position on FBN's "The Bottom Line" at 6 p.m. ET.

As Cain transitions to his new time slot, he brings with him an array of experiences from his tenure at "FOX & Friends Weekend," where he had the opportunity to interact with high-profile personalities like President Trump, actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and entrepreneur Dave Portnoy.

These efforts to revamp the channel's programming come as media consumption behaviors shift. Suzanne Scott, in a statement, emphasized the importance of evolving programming to better cater to audience demands, especially in a rapidly changing news environment.

In her statement, Suzanne Scott mentioned:

As the media landscape continues to evolve, we are always looking to innovate our programming lineup to meet the needs of our viewers, and we are confident the new lineup will best position FOX News Media for the future. Will Cain brings years of experience to the 4 p.m. hour as an accomplished broadcaster and a lawyer, and we look forward to adding his insights to what will no doubt be another historic news cycle ahead this year.

Will Cain's Anticipation for the New Role

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming change, Will Cain shared his thoughts on the transition.

In Cain's words:

It has been an honor to wake up with America these past four years, and I am thrilled to apply my background in news, law, entertainment, and business to help our viewers better understand the headlines through thought-provoking content and analysis every weekday afternoon.

The programming shuffle at Fox News and FOX Business Network reflects an effort to adapt to viewer preferences and prepare for an evolving news cycle. With expansions and new roles for familiar faces, the networks aim to maintain their relevance and engagement with audiences across various platforms.
