Tulsi Gabbard Expresses Desire to Serve in Trump's Potential Administration

 September 17, 2024

Former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has expressed her willingness to serve in a potential Trump administration.

According to Fox News, Gabbard stated on Monday that she would be "honored to serve" if offered a position in a future Trump administration.

Gabbard's comments came during a campaign fundraising event in Atlanta, Georgia, where she elaborated on her potential role and priorities. The former congresswoman, who is also an active-duty military veteran and currently serves as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, emphasized her interest in positions related to foreign policy and national security.

Gabbard's Shift From Democrat To Trump Supporter

Gabbard's political journey has been marked by significant changes in recent years. Once a prominent figure in the Democratic Party, she served as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2013 to 2016 and supported candidates like Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden.

However, Gabbard has become increasingly critical of her former party, citing a shift in values that she does not agree with. This disillusionment led to her departure from the Democratic Party and her recent alignment with Trump's team last month.

The former congresswoman explained her transition, stating that many people she encounters are also leaving the Democratic Party. She criticized the current state of the party, arguing that it no longer stands for freedom, civil liberties, or peace.

Focus On Foreign Policy And National Security

Gabbard expressed her desire to work in areas where she believes she can make the most impact, particularly in foreign policy and national security. She outlined several priorities, including:

I feel I can make the most impact in these areas of national security and foreign policy, and work to bring about the changes that President Trump talks about.

The former congresswoman emphasized the importance of ending the influence of the military-industrial complex, preventing World War III, and bringing the U.S. back from the brink of nuclear war. Gabbard also voiced her support for Trump's plans to end the war in Ukraine.

She criticized the current administration's approach to diplomacy, particularly regarding interactions with U.S. adversaries. Gabbard praised Trump's willingness to engage in direct talks with leaders of countries like North Korea, contrasting it with what she perceives as a reluctance from the Obama, Biden, and potential Harris administrations.

Criticism Of Current Administration's Foreign Policy

Gabbard did not hold back in her criticism of the current administration, particularly Vice President Kamala Harris. She accused Harris and other administration officials of escalating the war in Ukraine and being dismissive about the potential for nuclear conflict.

The former congresswoman stated:

The longer this war goes on and the more that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden and the neocons of Washington continue to escalate this war, the greater risk we are of a potential nuclear war, World War III. It is unconscionable and unacceptable that Kamala Harris and others who are continuing to escalate [the war in Ukraine] are so flippant about the reality of nuclear war.

Gabbard's strong words reflect her concern about the current direction of U.S. foreign policy and her belief in the need for a different approach.

Conclusion

Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman, has expressed her willingness to serve in a potential Trump administration, particularly in roles related to foreign policy and national security. This marks a significant shift in her political alignment, moving away from the Democratic Party she once prominently represented. Gabbard criticized the current administration's foreign policy approach, particularly regarding the Ukraine conflict, and emphasized the need for diplomacy with adversaries. Her potential involvement in a future Trump administration could signal a notable change in U.S. foreign policy direction.
