In North Fort Myers, Florida, a harrowing encounter between an elderly woman and a large alligator unfolded surprisingly quickly.
An 84-year-old resident, Del Boppel, was attacked by the reptile while out walking her dog near a local pond, People reported.
On Thursday, September 5, around 8:30 p.m., Boppel was walking near Julia Mobile Home Park when an alligator seemingly surged at her and her dog at an alarming speed.

In a desperate effort to save her dog, she managed to toss her pet, a shih tzu named Queen, out of immediate danger while confronting the looming threat herself.

It was like a torpedo... I didn't see anything go that fast in my life. I didn't have time to think. All of a sudden, I had a premonition, I'm telling you. It was like, 'Uh-oh.'
After the attack, someone notified wildlife officials about the aggressive animal. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) captured and removed a 7-foot, 3-inch alligator from the vicinity and confirmed its involvement in the incident.
