New York Times Columnist Calls Biden Ouster a ‘Coup’

 August 19, 2024

In a rather shocking admission, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd called Joe Biden's ouster from the presidential election a "coup."

It is the first time a member of the media has come anywhere close to admitting that what Democrats did went against everything this country stands for.

Talking Points…
- Biden pushed out
- Dowd admits it was a coup

Biden Forced Off Democrat Ticket

If you are a regular reader, you know I have been adamant from the outset that there were only two lawful ways that Biden could come off the ticket without it being controversial from our point of view. The first would have been for Biden to resign from office, thereby making Harris the incumbent. The second would have been to use the 25th to remove Biden, again installing Harris into the big chair and making her the incumbent.

The third option was one we talked about but had also stated it should be illegal. Democrats pressured Biden because of bad polling, and the general belief is that people like Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) threatened Biden that if he did not leave the race, they would embarrass him by using the 25th Amendment to remove him. But if he left willingly, they would allow him to stay in office to complete his term, enabling Biden to protect his legacy.

So, Biden told the media he was staying in, then left for another long weekend in Delaware, when a letter was posted on social media two days later announcing that Biden would withdraw from the election. Pelosi stated that the letter did not sound like Biden, and I found it rather interesting that Biden then extended his Delaware trip before coming back to address the nation on why he dropped out after having been so adamant that he was in this until election day.

Down Admits It Was a Coup

If you recall, I was and remain livid over the fact that Democrats disregarded the vote of the American people to replace Biden solely because he was behind in polling. In previous reports, I documented the nearly two dozen elections that were clearly going to be blowouts heading in, yet each party stood firm and went through with the candidate that the American people picked. I have also stated that if I were running the RNC, I would be challenging this decision as to the legality of removing an elected candidate from the race.

New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd finally admitted that this was not the norm. However, she tried to soften what Democrats did by calling it "the right thing" to do in this election. You may also notice that rather than use the word coup outright, she chose putsch, which I am sure will have everyone running for their thesaurus, so I will save you the time… it means "a violent attempt to overthrow the government." I would note, however, that she did use the word "coup" in her headline. She wrote:

"Even though it was the right thing to do, because Joe Biden was not going to be able to campaign, much less serve as president for another four years, in a fully vital way, it was a jaw-dropping putsch.

"At some point, when the polls cratered, Democratic mandarins decided to put the welfare of the party — and the country — ahead of the president's ego, and stop catering to his self-regarding fantasy that he was the only one who could beat Donald Trump."

Her column concludes with everything that is wrong in today's media, stating:

"Those who pushed out Biden should be proud.

"They saved him and their party from a likely crushing defeat, letting Trump snake back in and soil democracy."

Analysis

Since when is a coup a good thing? Yet, that is precisely what Dowd is suggesting in her column. Not to beat a tired horse, but we all know what the reaction would have been by Democrats had Trump been trailing Biden and the RNC decided to kick Trump to the curb and replace him with DeSantis just before the convention.

This is not how this country operates, and I remain baffled by the fact the RNC seems content to allow this to go unchallenged. The Democrats had legal avenues to pursue to remove Biden, but they chose the one option that eliminated the voter from the equation simply because they knew they were about to lose power. Let me stress this again… this has NEVER even been entertained in the history of our country, but Dems did it, and our media thinks it is a good thing, even celebrating it and encouraging it. We are one step closer to losing our status as a constitutional republic and becoming more and more like a socialist country with every passing day… and the Republican Party is allowing it to happen.
