According to the New York Post, a sinister plot targeting a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna was averted, thwarting a potential mass casualty event.
The plan involved a car bomb and machetes aimed at fans attending the globally sold-out Eras tour shows. Two young men, aged 19 and 17, radicalized online by extremist groups, devised the attack.
The Austrian nationals of North Macedonian, Turkish, and Croatian descent planned to strike the Ernst Happel Stadium with explosives and blade weapons. Their apprehension occurred just before the event series, scheduled from Thursday to Saturday.
The older suspect had openly expressed radical views, aligning himself with ISIS ideologies, and recently left his job anticipating the attack.
