Biden Repeatedly Called Harris 'President' Throughout Term

 August 6, 2024

According to Fox News, President Biden has repeatedly referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as "president," sparking discussion and confusion.

Biden’s first notable slip occurred in March 2021 during a discussion about the COVID-19 vaccine. He referred to Harris as "President Harris" while recounting a virtual tour of a vaccination center in Arizona. This mistake was met with mild amusement but largely overlooked at the time.

Later that year, in a speech at South Carolina State University, Biden again called Harris "president." This time he was acknowledging her alma mater, Howard University, further perpetuating the mix-up.

Harris's Recent Slip-Up During Eulogy For Jackson Lee

Vice President Harris also recently made a similar slip regarding her title. While delivering a eulogy for the late Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Harris mistakenly referred to herself as "president" before quickly correcting to "vice president."

It was Sheila Jackson Lee whose bill made Juneteenth a federal holiday. Which, as a United States senator, I was proud to co-sponsor. And then as president – as vice president … with the president, with the president.

Biden's mix-ups continued into 2022. During a speech in Georgia, he again mistakenly called Harris "President Harris" while discussing the January 6 insurrection. This repeated error has raised eyebrows and prompted questions about the frequency of such slips.

Biden's Birthday Wish And Immigration Remarks

In October 2022, during a White House event, Biden wished Harris a "happy birthday to a great president." This comment, intended as a light-hearted birthday wish, nonetheless added to the list of instances where Biden has confused their titles.

In March 2023, Biden once more referred to Harris as "president" while discussing immigration efforts. "President Harris led this effort — led this effort to make things better in the countries from which they are leaving," he said.

Harris is poised to be the official Democratic nominee for president at the upcoming national convention in August. This development comes after Biden's decision to withdraw from the 2024 race, positioning Harris as the party's likely candidate.

Harris's Role And Future Prospects

Harris’s role as vice president has been under scrutiny, especially with her expected nomination as the Democratic candidate for the 2024 presidential election. Her recent title mix-up during Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee's eulogy has only added to the attention surrounding her.

These incidents have sparked a broader conversation about the vice president's readiness to step into the presidential role. As the national convention approaches, all eyes will be on Harris and her ability to lead the Democratic party.

Biden’s repeated references to Harris as "president" may reflect his confidence in her capabilities, although they have also led to public and media scrutiny. The upcoming national convention will be a crucial moment for Harris as she prepares to potentially take on the highest office in the nation.

Conclusion

President Biden has mistakenly referred to Vice President Harris as "president" on multiple occasions, with at least five notable instances documented. Vice President Harris also recently made a similar slip during a eulogy for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. These repeated errors have drawn the attention of the media and the public, prompting discussions about their implications. Despite these mix-ups, Harris is expected to be the official Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election.
