After Joe Biden dropped out of the election after winning the primary race, Kamala Harris could not get to a microphone quickly enough to hold her first press conference as the Democrat nominee.
Not so shockingly, that was the last time she made an official appearance before the media, apparently taking a page out of Joe Biden’s basement election strategy.

On July 21, Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Harris as his replacement. This turned the election on its ear. For the first time in history, a presidential candidate willingly removed himself from the election after winning the Democrat primary race solely because he was behind in polling.
With this move, Democrats have set a new standard for how parties can conduct an election, literally removing the American people from the equation. Apparently, it is now okay to change out a candidate if they are behind in polling if you do it before the national convention.
Harris held a press conference not long after Biden’s announcement, but that was the last time she appeared before the media for an official press conference. This is a move out of Biden’s playbook, which allows her to avoid scrutiny and hard questions from the press. National Review senior writer Noah Rothman called our Harris for avoiding the media, writing:
"The most revealing exposure to which a candidate can submit is a prolonged press conference — and that’s precisely what Harris needs to do.
“Indeed, we know that’s what she needs to do because it was only a few weeks ago that Democratic political professionals and their allies insisted that was what Biden had to do.”
NewsBusters executive editor Tim Graham also called out Harris, stating:
"Since the 2020 campaign, we have witnessed the bizarre spectacle of Donald Trump granting wide access to networks that suggest he's a fascist and hammer him daily, while Biden and Harris won't grant interviews to media outlets that gurgle all over them and their ‘historic accomplishments.’
"Either they think the press can never be servile enough or they are projecting a complete lack of confidence in their efforts to put complete sentences together."
Trump had agreed to a debate with Joe Biden on ABC News, but his removal from the race changed everything in terms of the debate conditions. Harris had agreed to step in for Biden on the same terms, but Trump immediately stated that he did not want to debate on ABC News against Harris, and he was right in making this call. George Stephanopoulos was scheduled to be a moderator, and he is nothing more than a Democrat operative, so why should Trump put himself in a position where he knows the moderators will be trying to help Harris while torpedoing his campaign?
Harris is now saying that she will only show up for the ABC News debate, which had been scheduled for September 10. However, after Biden dropped out, Fox News offered to host a debate on September 4, which is where Trump wants to see Harris. Trump is now insisting that it will be the Fox News debate or nothing, stating:
“I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all.”
I know Trump wants to debate Harris, and he had agreed to debate Biden, not Harris, for the ABC News debate. I would like to see them reach an agreement to debate on both outlets, but I doubt it will come to that. There is no way Harris will walk into hostile territory, so I don’t see a reason for Trump to do that to himself if she will not return the favor.
The losers in this, of course, are the American people, who really need to see these two face off on policy against each other. Instead, we are about to hear a steady chorus from both sides about how each is afraid to debate the other. And since most of today’s media outlets are nothing more than state-run media for the Democrat Party, Trump will wind up taking the bigger hit in this battle.
