Gilbertson: Examining Allegations of Deception In Kamala Harris' Campaign

 July 25, 2024

Amid the political whirlwind that saw Joe Biden withdraw from the 2024 race, Vice President Kamala Harris has formally embarked on her presidential campaign.

Harris' allies now face accusations of manipulating public perception concerning her Biden's administration as she gears up for the presidential battle ahead, as Breitbart reports.

Harris has recently been the focus of several allegations surrounding the transparency and integrity of her presidential campaign.

According to allegations, Harris her allies are actively distorting public perceptions by concealing prior knowledge of challenges related to President Joe Biden's cognitive health, unfairly categorizing scrutiny over Harris's capabilities as racially biased, and constructing misleading narratives around her support base.

Amid Controversy, Harris Begins Presidential Campaign

Sources indicate that Harris, despite not partaking in the 2024 primary, is poised to receive her party’s nomination, sparking discussions about the democratic nature of her ascent. Prominent voices, including members of the civil rights group Black Lives Matter, have criticized the way her nomination has been handled, casting doubts about party transparency and fairness.

Questions over leadership competencies extend to Harris’ assignment on immigration, a significant element of her political portfolio. Critics assert that she misleadingly distanced herself from the failures while emphasizing supposed successes, thereby shielding her comprehensive record from thorough evaluation.

In the media, debates intensified after a notable June debate in which President Biden's mental capability was under scrutiny. It was after this event that Harris reassured the public on ABC News about Biden's fitness to serve, only to be contradicted by remarks from GOP vice-presidential hopeful J.D. Vance, who questioned the basis of her claims about Biden.

Poll Data and Public Opinion Show Emerging Doubts

Despite Harris’ assurances, discomfort about Biden’s cognitive capabilities has been a persistent theme. A survey from May 2023 conducted by Harvard-Harris pollsters first brought to light the American public’s growing skepticism regarding Biden’s mental fitness.

Adding to the complexities are allegations about suppression of information. It has been reported that GovTrack, a widely referenced platform tracking political records, removed a page documenting Harris's record as the Senate's most liberal member right after she was effectively nominated, an action that critics like Mike Berg have labeled as suppression and voter manipulation.

In defense of Harris, Rep. Maxwell Frost suggested that critiques of Harris often carry underlying racist connotations. For instance, he said, discussions on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are perceived by some to indirectly invoke racial slurs against people of color involved in politics.

The narrative shaping Harris' candidacy has come under fire for possibly misrepresenting the grassroots nature of her support. Sen. Chuck Schumer explicitly commended the grassroots fundraising efforts that ostensibly propelled Harris' expected nomination, juxtaposing public critiques of the nomination process.

Diverse Reactions to Campaign Developments

Amid these turbulent assessments, the discourse surrounding Harris' competency has been steeped in racial considerations. Ashley Allison, in a CNN interview, emphasized what she sees as the racially charged undertones often employed against Black women in leadership, framing such critiques as deeply disrespectful and implicitly biased.

As the political landscape braces for the upcoming election, the allegations of misinformation, suppression of information, and racial undertones in criticisms highlight the contentious atmosphere in which Kamala Harris’ campaign is unfolding. From allegations of undemocratic practices to accusations of shielding administrative failings, the path to the nomination for Vice President Harris continues to stir debate and doubt among the electorate.
