Is Biden Putting Our National Security at Risk?

 July 10, 2024

Over the last two weeks, Joe Biden has not only had a disastrous debate, but he has also made some comments about how he needs to reduce his work schedule to ensure a meltdown like that does not happen again.

This has raised some legitimate concerns about whether Joe Biden is putting our national security at risk because he cannot be "ready" for the job 24 hours a day.

Talking Points….
- Biden reduced scheduled
- National security on the line
- Analysis

Biden Working Bankers Hours

In late June, a report surfaced on Axios that showed that Biden was not engaged for a full day. Several aides told Axios that Biden was only "dependably engaged" between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The aides openly admitted that problems would likely occur outside those hours. The report stated:

"Outside of that time range or while traveling abroad, Biden is more likely to have verbal miscues and become fatigued."

The White House tried to push back on the claims, but Biden himself has now created doubt about his ability to work a full schedule. After the debate, Biden started making calls to try to quell the doubts about his ability, but in the process, he only stoked more fears. Biden "joked" that doctors had checked him, and they told him everything was fine, that it was "just my brain." The joke fell flat. He also told them that he would no longer do events after 8 p.m. so that he could get more rest. The Biden campaign then tried to do damage control, stating:

"President [George W.] Bush went to bed at 9, and President [Barack] Obama made dinner at 6:30.

"Normal presidents strike a balance, and so does Joe Biden. Hardly the same rigor as Donald Trump who spends half of his day ranting on Truth Social about plans that would cause a recession and other half golfing."

Then, a report in New York Magazine created some real panic, citing longtime friends of Biden who stated that Biden was having problems recalling names of people he had known for decades. The report also stated that Jill Biden was whispering information into Joe Biden's ear to help cover this up. One witness to this happening had stated:

"It hasn't been good for a long time but it's gotten so, so much worse.

"So much worse!"

National Security Risk

This has now brought the very real and scary question to light about how much of a problem this is for national security. Maybe President Bush did go to bed at 9 p.m., but he was able to wake up in the middle of the night to address a crisis. Barack Obama's having dinner at 6:30 p.m. had nothing at all to do with his ability to work long days and address a crisis that popped up in the middle of the night.

How much faith does anyone have that if Joe Biden were to be awakened at 2 a.m., his brain would be functioning enough to deal with a surprise military attack or the like? Former Trump national security official Gen. Keith Kellogg (Ret.) raised this exact question, stating:

"Let's go back to the Federalist Papers, back when we were forming the Constitution, and Alexander Hamilton was asked a question, and he wrote in the Federalist Papers, 'What is one of the key attributes of a... national leader?' And he said, energy, and he was talking both intellectual energy and physical energy.

"So you even go back to the start of our republic and what was essential for a commander-in-chief. You can't have a part-time commander-in-chief."

Analysis

This is a legitimate concern now, and I would have to imagine that our enemies and adversaries are frothing in the mouth to take advantage of this. This is about Joe Biden's brain being engaged the moment his eyes open, even if it is a general waking him up at 1:00 a.m. to decide within minutes. From what we are reading, Joe Biden is unlikely even to know who that person is, let alone make a decision that could impact a threat of war. Forget the ramifications of how this would impact the general election… it seems pretty clear that the 25th Amendment should be invoked to remove Biden from office.
