Judge Cannon Delays Deadlines in Trump Documents Case

 July 8, 2024

Get ready for another run of attacks against Judge Aileen Cannon.

Cannon paused several deadlines after the presidential immunity decision, and Democrats continue to push the narrative that Cannon is doing all this to help Donald Trump.

Supreme Court Presidential Immunity Ruling

I know I have written several reports on this already, but there is much misinformation out there due to the liberal justices and Democrats, it is almost mandatory that we outline this decision every time we even discuss the case.

Chief Justice Roberts was very clear in his ruling that not every act of a sitting president would be subject to presidential immunity.

There were numerous Supreme Court cases that had precedents in place that had already settled his issue, and the new ruling more or less just codified all of the previous rulings. To that point, in his opinion, Roberts wrote:

"The President enjoys no immunity for his unofficial acts, and not everything the President does is official."

The fact that Justice Sotomayor stated that a president could use SEAL Team 6 to assassinate a political enemy is utterly ridiculous and irresponsible. Democrats have done the same thing, but none of what they are saying is even remotely possible, especially when they start talking about Trump turning the presidency into a dictatorship.

Cannon Delays Deadlines in Case

The presidential immunity ruling is relevant in the two cases that Jack Smith brought against Trump, but even that depends on whether the immunity will kick in or not based on the perception of Trump's actions.

Some legal experts believe that some of the charges in the classified documents case will have to be dismissed, while others may have to be repackaged and re-presented.

So, Trump's attorneys filed a motion for "a partial stay of further proceedings" in the Smith cases "until President Trump's motions based on Presidential immunity and the Appointments and Appropriations Clauses are resolved." This is a very reasonable request, and Cannon agreed to hear arguments on these motions.

However, that meant that the case would be further delayed to allow time for both legal teams to prepare for oral arguments. Of course, the entire left lost its mind, mainly because Trump appointed Cannon, and every move that she makes is being raked over with a fine-toothed comb.

Analysis

Cannon did nothing wrong here. As I have stated in other reports, other judges have made similar decisions. But because they were appointed by Democrats, their decisions are not scrutinized, while Cannon's are dissected with a fine-toothed comb. I am not saying that she has been perfect, but the narrative that the media and Democrats are putting out is just flat-out wrong.
