If Biden withdraws from the election, the only real choice to replace him for Democrats to save face would be Kamala Harris.
Harris, however, is already floundering, most recently getting called out by a hip-hop magazine for having blatantly pandered to minorities for support during a recent BET Awards show.
Talking Points…
- Kamala struggles
- Called out for pandering
- Analysis
Kamala has been a disaster ever since the first presidential debate during the 2020 cycle. At one point, she was right there with Joe Biden, and then Americans finally got a really good look at her. After she attacked Joe Biden, more or less calling him a racist on the debate stage, she patted herself on the back with one of the most arrogant interviews I have ever seen.
From that moment, Harris started to crash. She was among the first top contenders to leave the race, but her career was saved, or at least that is what most people thought at the time, by Joe Biden when he tapped her to be his VP. The choice made sense on the surface… Harris is a minority female, two voting blocks where Biden has struggled to get support.
The choice paid off, as Biden made up ground in both categories and beat Trump in 2020, but the problems for Harris never stopped. Early in the presidency, Biden threw quite a few high-profile assignments at Harris, most notably the border, and Harris crashed and burned every time. She has had more profile resets than anyone deserves, and she always manages to screw them up.
At this point, her biggest reputation is her annoying cackle, which is also a tell. Every time Harris serves up a word salad, it is usually accompanied by that cackle, which has led to her being possibly the only Democrat in politics who is less popular than Joe Biden. She has just come off as someone who is as dumb as a box of rocks, and that is probably an insult to the box of rocks.
Someone got the brilliant idea for Harris to take a call during the BET Awards, but it ended up falling flat. Harris took a call from actress Taraji P. Henson, telling her:
"Yeah girl, I'm out here in these streets. And let me tell you, you're right, Taraji. There is so much at stake in this moment. The majority of us believe in freedom and equality. But these extremists, as they say, they not like us."

The entire interaction just seemed off and fake, and Harris came off as a poser, not just to Republicans but also to the hip-hop magazine Complex, which blasted Harris for the blatant pandering. The magazine called the video "corny" and compared the skit to some of the Hillary Clinton stunts from the 2016 election. It added:
"If Hillary Clinton is the Ken Griffey Jr. of pandering, then it looks like Kamala is becoming the Barry Bonds of it."
This is not a good start for Harris, who has struggled with approval ratings for quite some time. Make no mistake about it, there is no other alternative for Democrats if Joe Biden does decide to step down, and right now, Harris is behind the eight ball. The fact the magazine called out Harris for the blatant pandering as well as dropping a bombshell on her regarding her conviction rate of minorities, well, that does not bode well for Democrats or Harris if she gets the nod.
