Since the GOP has taken control of the House, numerous committees have been investigating Biden, resulting in an impeachment inquiry.
The question remains, however, if any of the possible offenses that Biden allegedly committed as a Senator or sitting Vice President are impeachable as a sitting president. However, This new possible charge is impeachable if they can prove that Biden is guilty.
Last week, Hunter Biden was scheduled to meet before a House committee. Instead of appearing at the closed hearing, Hunter decided to hold a press conference on the Senate side of the Capitol to defy the subpoena.
When the White House was asked if it knew Hunter's plan, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden did know. At the time, she stated:
"Hunter Biden is a private citizen, so I certainly would refer you to his representatives.
"The president was certainly familiar with what his son was going to say, and I think what you saw was from the heart from his son."
Media also saw Hunter Biden leaving Marine One during that time, which means he was brought to D.C. by Joe Biden to defy the subpoena; if we want to get technical about it, and you better believe Congress is going to be as technical as can be on this front.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) pounced on this information, with Biden giving them the exact ammunition they had hoped to receive to impeach him.
Comer and Jordan penned a letter to White House Counsel Edward Siskel informing him that they were going to open an investigation into Biden for possible obstruction. The letter, in part, stated:
"In light of an official statement from the White House that President Biden was aware in advance that his son, Hunter Biden, would knowingly defy two congressional subpoenas, we are compelled to examine as part of our impeachment inquiry whether the President engaged in a conspiracy to obstruct a proceeding of Congress."
I have stated numerous times that I thought the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden was fruitless because Democrats would never allow that to get on the floor of the Senate. That aside, there is the legal question if Biden can even be impeached for actions as a Senator and/or Vice President, with even Republicans challenging the validity of such an impeachment.
However, this is far different, as he did this as a sitting president, and if they can prove it, it is very much an impeachable offense.
Now, I still would not expect Democrats to impeach him, but for a party that talks about the rule of law and nobody being above the law, it will make them look quite foolish defending someone who clearly broke the law and used government assets to do it.
This is a real problem for Biden, and he has Jean-Pierre to thank for it. She cannot take that answer back, nor can Biden take back the coverage of Hunter Biden exiting Marine One (even though he was not on the registered passenger list).
