There is a lot of speculation regarding who Donald Trump’s VP will be if he wins the nomination.
Recent rumors threw a wrench into the race when it was revealed that Ben Carson is apparently at the top of Trump’s VP list, someone nobody was even considering.
Morning Consult took a poll in 2016 to see who the Republican and Republican-leaning voters would like to see as Donald Trump’s VP.
Atop the list was none other than former Trump Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Ben Carson.
After almost eight years, that feeling has apparently not gone away, as rumors are flying that Ben Carson is on top of Trump’s VP selections list.
This was a bit shocking because Carson has not even been in the conversation to this point, but we will get into that a bit more in the analysis section.
The list of possible candidates is down to just a handful of people at this point, even if you throw in Carson.
Aside from Carson, the most likely choices for Trump would be:

If we throw Carson into the mix of the most likely candidates, that leaves us with four people.
Again, Carson came out of left field for me, as I did not even think he was a consideration at this point. If Trump was going to have a male VP, I figured that Scott would be his number-one choice, followed by Donalds.
I like Carson, don’t get me wrong, but he does not have the personality to really help Trump during an election. He is a very awkward speaker, but he is extremely loyal to Trump, so that could come into play here.
If Trump wants a male VP, my choice would easily be Scott, who I believe could really help Trump not only in the election but also in navigating DC a bit better than the first time around. Scott is just generally a nice guy and very well-liked in DC, and Trump would need that to offset the animosity that follows him.
Not only that, I think people would have far more confidence in Scott being president than Carson if something were to happen to Trump.
Scott, however, could be a challenge to recruit, as he has expressed no interest in being the number two, stating:
“Being vice president has never been on my to-do list for this campaign, and it’s certainly not there now.”
My frontrunner for Trump if he picks a woman is South Dakota Kristi Noem, who has been campaigning for the job for months.
When she was asked if she would be the VP, she responded:
“Oh, absolutely. I would in a heartbeat.”
I believe Stefanik is a backup for Trump, but I also think she would be a big mistake. She has virtually no national profile, and only diehard politicos really know who she is within the party.
As for the wildcard choices, Nikki Haley has once again left me baffled. I still believe she is in this campaign to knock out DeSantis for Trump, so I am not exactly buying her latest attacks against Trump.
I think this is a show to make it look legit, so I would still not count her out for VP or another high-profile position, such as Secretary of State if Trump wins.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a name that keeps getting tossed out, but I believe it would be foolish for her to leave Arkansas before she develops a strong record. I really hope she stays put because I think she can have a truly amazing future if she can fix the issues in that state.
Kari Lake and Marjorie Taylor Greene get a lot of noise, but I really don’t think they are serious candidates for the position. Lake brings nothing to the table, and Greene is nothing but a social media phenomenon.
Both could wind up in Trump’s administration, but as far as the VP goes, I think this is now a three-horse race between Carson, Noem, and Scott.
