Trump Takes Shot At Judge and AG After Gag Order Lifted

 November 17, 2023

The former U.S. President, Donald Trump, has taken to Truth Social to express his dissatisfaction over a gag order issued by a New York judge in an ongoing civil fraud case.

Following an appellate court's temporary freeze of the gag order, Trump leveled serious accusations against the presiding judge and the New York attorney general prosecuting his case.

Trump Responds to Gag Order on Truth Social

Trump's response was directed at Judge Arthur Engoron, who issued the gag order relating to the $250 million fraud case brought against Trump's organization by Attorney General Letitia James. The former President posted a comprehensive message on Truth Social, a platform known for its staunch support of free speech. In it, he dubbed the gag order as "ridiculous and unconstitutional."

He went on to claim that both Judge Engoron and Attorney General James were biased against him, a sentiment that has been expressed multiple times in the past. His assertions of innocence were strong and unambiguous, stating he had "done NOTHING WRONG."

Furthermore, he dismissed the case as a "fake" attack targeted against him, a tactic he believes was utilized to tarnish his reputation and undermine his past administration.

Appeals Court Stays Engoron's Gag Order

Earlier this week, Judge Engoron issued a gag order related to the fraud case. Trump's legal team swiftly filed an emergency lawsuit in response. As a result, the appeals court decided to halt the gag order on Thursday temporarily.

Following the court's decision, Trump wasted no time in voicing his views on the matter. His message on Truth Social came later that same evening, where he shared his strong convictions about the case and the order.

He also publicly stated his intention to seek a mistrial due to the alleged lack of impartiality in the case proceedings. The trial continues, with six claims still under examination.

Trump Laments Effects on New York Businesses

In his post, Trump also expressed concern for the potential impacts of the case and the judicial actions on New York businesses. He suggested that the "Radical and Unprecedented actions of Judge Engoron will keep BUSINESSES and JOBS forever out of New York State."

The former President's sharp criticism of the legal proceedings isn't an isolated event. He's been vocal about his belief in the political motivations behind the lawsuit filed by Attorney General James, who he claims used a 'Get Trump' platform to further her political career.

In a lengthy post, Trump stated:

"Judge Arthur Engoron has just been overturned (stayed!) by the New York State Appellate Division (Appeals Court), for the 4th TIME (on the same case!). His Ridiculous and Unconstitutional Gag Order, not allowing me to defend myself against him and his politically biased and out of control, Trump Hating Clerk, who is sinking him and his Court to new levels of LOW, is a disgrace. They are defending the Worst and Least Respected Attorney General in the United States, Letitia James, who is a Worldwide disgrace, as is her illegal Witch Hunt against me."
